Halloween is over and I realized I never shared these pics with you. Those Cupcakes were delicious even if they were a bit creepy. The frosting was filled with mini chocolate chips which made them even better.

Here is a picture of a very sad Superman (my grandson) I think someone was trying to take candy out of his Trick or Treat bag or he was mad because he had to wear sneakers not his traditional boots. LOL Either way he did have a fun time and got loads of goodies.

October Snow - Oh Man!!

Well we got lots of snow around here and wow is it cold out. Its not unusual for us to get a little bitty snow in October once in a great while. But this was lots more then we expected. Its the great snowman snowball making snow too. Very heavy. Lots of people in our town are without power, I hope they can repair it soon. We were very lucky, thank God!!

More Halloween Stitching

I just finished putting this cutie together. I have to laugh when I read it. I just love the saying. I have included it in a package for someone special for Halloween. (My son) he doesn't read my blog because he is SOOOOO busy at work so I know he won't see this. He just got his own office at work and he is so very excited about this new job. We are so very happy for him. So since he won't be home for Halloween I am sending him this little Halloween treat package to his job. I have included the stitching and a package of his favorite cookies. Also, some candy from his favorite store near by. I hope he gets a kick out of it.

Thank you all so much for your sweet comments. I really appreciate them. I thought for sure my friends had forgotten about me since I took such a long break. Wow was I wrong. You guys are great. This weekend I plan on sitting back and catching up on all your blogs and I can't wait.

It was fun decorating and I have so much more to do. Every year I hope to get trick or treaters but we never do anymore. So we have our own little celebrations with our grandchildren.

Salem Remembered

I can't tell you how many drafts I have written these past months. I just never seemed to complete a one of them. So I am going to try to finish this one and share with you my newest finished piece.

I enjoyed stitching this piece so much. A tribute to those who were accused and killed for witchcraft. As much as I love the past and find it so interesting I thank God that we live in these times. It must have been awful back then.

Our area up here was hit very hard by Hurricane Irene. We have friends and neighbors that lost homes, farms, animals, vehicles and have so much damage. We were so very lucky, our road was washed out and we had to stay indoors for a few days but that was a small inconvenience compared to what others had to bear. Our school became a shelter for so many. School Opening was delayed because of all the road & bus damage. All of it was devastating but thank God we are alive and isn't that what matters most.

I have been stitching a few fun Fall things that I am putting together and will share in my next post, which I promise will be soon. In addition I am stitching a Christmas stocking for myself. I am using Lizzie Kates Angel stocking pattern that I have had forever and finally started. I need some Christmas cheer and its a happy stocking and a fun stitch so far. I think I should have made it much larger though. You know to make room for all them goodies that Santa undoubtedly will bring me. LOL LOL.

Jaime is my oldest daughter. She was 35 years old on July 6th. I can hardly believe 35 years has gone by already.
She lives in Virginia so we had to do our celebrating by phone and Skype. Happy Birthday sweetheart. I wish I was there to eat some birthday cake with you. We will celebrate when we see you again which hopefully God willing won't be too long.
Here she is just 2 years old, not the best picture I have of her but I love it. I remember taking it like yesterday. She was crying and fussy that day and I tried to make her smile by taking her picture but you can see it didn't work. LOL

Happy Fourth of July to all!! I couldn't wait to post today just so I could share a picture of this framed piece with you. This is My Offering, I stitched it last year and finally had it framed.
I have not had anything framed in a very long time so I am so excited about this piece and to have it just in time for the 4th of July. Almost like getting a birthday present. Hope you like it as much as I do. I think the framer did a great job.

I know Summer began last week officially but to me it starts today. July 1st. 1/2 of the year gone already and this is the start on my countdown for the rest of the year which happens to be my favorite part, loads of birthdays, lots of summer fun, the start of a new school year, Autumn, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas of course. Isn't it great thinking of all that fun stuff yet to come.

I haven't had much time to blog or do much of anything in the way of fun. Life has been very busy and trying. This will be the first summer that I am not working and I am taking a much needed summer off. My vacation started off with a bang, a very big bang. Our much loved pool is no more. The other day while 2 of my grandchildren and my sil Donnie were in the pool, one side of the pool collapsed. 15,000 gallons of water all over the yard. It even destroyed a little playhouse of my granddaughters. Wow that water was strong, it moved our lower level deck stairs. Thank God no one was hurt. My sil got my grandchildren out of the pool so fast, thank God.

I contacted our insurance company and an adjuster has been to see the wreckage but we still have no idea what will be the outcome, we are waiting to hear from them and I do hope it's with some good news. We have been pricing new ones and they are outrageously expensive.

My newest addiction is crocheting, I can't seem to put that hook down. I am working on a few different projects. It is so easy and almost mindless to just sit and do some crocheting. So much fun.
I have made a promise to myself to put a few strands of floss on my CHS Village every night of this summer. I am having a SAL with my friend Pat who is also working on the same piece. We have to check in on Sundays to see how far we got. So this Sunday I will be posting a picture of what I have done so far and hopefully some stitchy crocheting too.

I will close this post with something very sweet. Something that reminds me of summer also, hope you like it too.

when I go to the store and there are tons of strawberries and blueberries everywhere. They are all so yummy looking. I stocked up on both and I plan on trying my hand at making strawberry jam. That is if I have any strawberries left. LOL My grandchildren and I have been gobbling them up. I like to slice them up and throw some blueberries in the mix and then sprinkle sugar all over, toss them and sprinkle some more. Then refrigerate for a little while and they are just fantastic. This is also good as a for a topping on icecream too, or on a slice of pound cake, however you enjoy them, they are wonderful.

I was determined to post today, being the last day of February. I am sitting down here with a nice large cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee and enjoying the warmth of it. i am soooo sick of the cold. I know we have more winter still to come but it does seem like its been so very long. Non stop snow and ice and freeze your fingers off temperatures. Brrrrr!! We have had so many snow days I am sure we are going to lose some of our summer vacation because of it.
I have been stitching a bit and want to share what I have done this month.

Not the greatest picture but this design is just so cute.
I plan on having a basket full of little pillows with birds on them. I think this red bird which is by Blackbird Designs is just so sweet. I just ordered the new BBD book and I am so anxious to get it and see what goodies its filled with. Barb and Alma sure know how to put some wonderful designs together.
This past Valentine's Day I stitched this Little House design for my husband Ray for a gift. I am putting it inside a mirror that I bought from Sudberry Designs. It fits perfectly but I haven't finished stretching and pinning it yet. Yep I am framing it myself. Daring aren't I? LOL I need to pick up more pins this week so I can get it done. I will be sure and share a picture whenits all framed.

My husband liked it a lot and he was happy to see me stitching so much this month. I had lost my stitching MOJO for a little while there but its back and I am so glad.
I still am doing my crocheting, I made my girls all pretty little washcloths that I have to say are the nicest to wash with. They are called Spa cloths and they came out so nice. I added two little heart shape soaps. I need to take some individual pics of them but this was how I wrapped and gave to my children. Aren't they sweet and valentiny looking. :)

Here is the view from my sewing/craft table. Wanted you to see my very pretty snow filled trees outside of the window. We planted those trees when they were about 2 ft high, now they are huge and so very pretty, especially covered with snow.

Couldn't let another day go by without wishing everyone a very Happy New Year.

All evening I have been thinking of something interesting I can blog about or some pictures I can post but I just can't think of anything really special right now. The past months have flown by, so many things have happened that have kept me busy and away. I have read somewhere that whatever you are doing on New Years Eve at midnight, thats what you will be doing for the rest of the year. I plan on sitting down and bringing in the New Year with some crosstitching in hand, so if there is any truth to that saying 2011 will be a great year of crosstitching for me. I have not been stitching much but this past week has found me working on CHS Village once again. I am determined to get it done in 2011. I have been crocheting a lot too. I made quite a few gifties and had so much fun with them. I have never enjoyed crocheting as much as I have been, I have been learning to read patterns. I honestly never could understand a crochet pattern and it seems I just wasn't being patient enough. I just love it now. I have so many ideas for things to make in this new year and I can't wait to share them.

Tis The Season

for pumpkins. I love them. They are everywhere. I found this pattern the other day on Gazette94. So many great ideas and designs on that blog. I saw this and I knew I had to stitch it right away.

Work has been great. The past couple of days I have been waking up earlier and feeling so much better, and that needle is back in my fingers "look out world". Thank God, I have been in a creative funk for a long time but I think it has passed. I realize I just have to STAY OFF FACEBOOK. LOL Oh my goodness that is a time suck. Then I wonder why I dont have time to make all the things I want to make and I have lots of plans. I am so hooked on that Treasure Island. First it was fishville! Good Grief, I need to stop.
This past week was my husband's birthday, we didn't celebrate it yet, we are going to celebrate tomorrow. (Saturday) which just happens to be my granddaughter Tori's birthday. We are having a barbecue since the weather is still so nice and having friends and family over. It should be lots of fun. Tori is so excited that she is going to be 7. Oh to be 7 again. I walked through the toy department at Walmart and I swear I was taken back in time. What fun. I was a big time Barbie Girl. Really if you loved Barbie as a child, you need to check out the Barbie Aisles. They have all new stuff, all new fashions, more handsome looks to Ken. A swimming dog, OMG I couldn't stop oohing and ahhhing. Finally my daughter had to come search for me and drag me out of the Barbie Aisle. My granddaughter likes Barbies but not like I did, she likes a different type of fashion doll. From Monster High, some new show that they have dolls that look like barbies but are supposed to be a little scary. LOL One of the gifts I got her is a set of dolls from Monster High. Will take a picture of them tomorrow to share, they are a hoot. The girl is named Cleo De Nile daughter of the Mummy and the boy is Deuce Gordon Son of medusa. They are like KEWL monster teens. I know she is going to be thrilled with them, she has one already named DracuLaura. They actually just looked like teen dolls dressed up for Halloween. Crazy!!
I have no plans for Sunday except for maybe some more stitching and maybe taking a nice ride through our area to enjoy the leaves changing colors. They are just so pretty and I love taking pictures of them. I will be back soon. Thank you for being patient with me.

I've Been Hexed

Well, like everybody else I am complaining about the same old thing, the summer went by way too fast, it was way too hot, or not hot enough. What happened to it?? It is already September for goodness sake. Labor Day weekend. It is back to work for me this coming week. I am looking forward to it, I have a couple meetings to go to before school starts and they are having a welcome back breakfast this coming Tuesday, it will be fun to see everyone and to see the children too on Wednesday which is the official first day of school.
The best part of the whole summer was that I got to spend some time with my dear sister friend Siobhan and her lovely family. We had a wonderful time together but as always it went way too fast. We did have fun, we always do, we did lots of yakking and catching up on things, we went out to eat to different restaurants. But the best was just sitting and chatting in Dunkin Donuts, we could sit there for hours and talk and talk. It is wonderful. I miss her so much already, and I am already counting the days till we can get together again. We rode all over Pennslyvania and Delaware. We visited some great Quilt stores. Siobhan has quilted quite a few beautiful quilts and she has convinced me to start one. OMG Okay I said it. I am quilting and I don't even think I know what I am doing. LOL But she did show me how to start so I think I got it. Of course next year she will have to show me how to finish because I have no idea. I found some great vintage children fabrics that reminded me so much of when I was a child. Aren't they sweet? I am in love with these sweet designs. I have so many more to make but that is okay, I love making them. I am already dreaming of other hexagon quilts I will make.
I also had to add to my crosstitch stash and yarn stash, we visited the Strawberry Sampler and spend a little time there with old friends. That was fun and we went to this yarn store in Old Forge that was wonderful. I never saw so many beautiful yarns I just wanted to dive in to all of them. Of course I had to buy some.
I bought this chart "I've Got your Love to Keep Me Warm" while at Strawberry Sampler and I have started it. This November my husband and I will be married 36 years, and I swear I was a child bride. :) so I am stitching this in honor of our anniversary. As I stitch it I can hear my mom singing this very song, she was always singing while working around the house. Now I am singing it while stitching.

Hi everybody, and a HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY to all of you.
This has always been a favorite pillow of mine that I stitched a few years back so I thought I would show it again to share with everyone. School ended a week ago and I have been trying to enjoy the week off I have in between jobs. Now here is it the 4th of July weekend already. Monday I go back to work at my Summer Recreation job.
This past Thursday my granddaughter Victoria finally had her tonsils and adenoids removed. It was difficult since they were abcessed and she is recovering now. She is on medication so she is not in too much pain, and antibiotics and she has had a mountain of ice pops and ice cream. My little lambchop she is resting right now and still feeling very poorly which is understandable but we are so relieved it is over. God willing this will help improve her health.
I have been having so much fun with my new passion, cotton yarn. OMG I can't stop playing with it. I have been making all sorts of things. One of my favorite items that I made were swiffer covers. I love that swiffer especially good for the doggy fur that tends to fly around everywhere, I swear my dogs shed enough to make more dogs. Those little cloths are very expensive. Now even the store brands are getting high in price. So I crocheted me a swiffer cover and darn if it doesn't work wonderful. I used the poor thing so much, flipped it over used it again, and now its in the laundry basket waiting to be washed. I am going to have to make myself a bunch since I use them every day. I wish I took a picture of it first. I did a demonstration for my daughters and now they all want them. LOL I also covered some sponges with crochet and they are wonderful. They clean so nice. I made a few more washcloths too. What fun I have been having. I still have loads of cotton yarn and still got some more ideas of things I want to make. My daughters said that they have a feeling one day I will be dressed in a crocheted cotton outfit from head to toe since I am having so much fun with it. LOL I am thinking of making little packages with a sponge a swiffer pad and maybe a washcloth or two for little gifts for friends. Maybe a bar of homemade soap as well.

Then to make a perfect closing for the week, I received a lovely package from a dear friend Melissa. What a special treat it is. The package was just a "Good Mail" package as she called it. Just so I would get some good and happy mail. Included was a handwritten letter which was so nice to receive. In this day of email and texts, how wonderful that she took the time to write me a lovely long letter. It was so nice. The filled with lots of goodies. Here is a picture of everything minus the bag of candy which is gone already. :)

Just 1 more day of school and my work is done. YIPPEE!! Well, done for 10 days then summer recreation starts. Our summer recreation is growing, so many more children joining and we are happy about that. I have been spreading the word about all the fun we have and what a great program it is and lots have been signing up for it.
Had to share this picture of the cherries from my cherry tree. They are just yummy and this was the first picking. We have been getting a basket daily from the tree and leaving some for the birds too. We also have a bird feeder in the shape of an acorn that has hung there for about 3 years. A bird has made a nest in there and the babies are just so sweet. While we were picking cherries mama bird came back and gave us all heck. Oh she was so mad at us, so we stopped picking so she could go and take care of the babies. So now we pick when we are sure she is done feeding so we don't bother her and her little family. Wish I could get them to peek their heads out for the camera so I can share a picture with everyone.

I started a giftie for someone special with that yarn I bought. I love how its coming out. It is going to be a shawl and I am loving this yarn. I am so glad that I got it. I went back and bought the last 10 skeins they had so I can make myself one for the autumn too. I was so sorry that I didn't pick up more when I first got it. They had it in all sorts of colors on clearance, but someone got to it before me. I guess I was lucky to get what I got. Anyway would love to hear your opinions, what do you think??

Just for the fun of it yesterday I stitched on some more wash cloths and came up with these 2. Aren't they cute? I love how bright they are. I gave them today to my friend Roseann who loves bright colors like this. They are just so summery and cheery.

I have been having trouble with blogger. Can't add pictures like I use to, I changed the editor to the old way but it still won't work so I had to get a picasa account, and then upload these pics to Picasa. Not too bad but I sure wish that it would be fixed. I am sure there must be an easier way but I just have not figured it out yet. Love to all, Sharon

Happy Flag Day everybody. Couldn't let another day go by without posting. I have missed posting more often then I do lately. Hopefully with the summer just around the corner I will have a bit more time to do that.
I just got back from a wonderful few days with my daughter Katie and her family. I had the most wonderful time. I got to spend lots of time with Katie and baby Anthony while Tony worked. I wish I could have stayed longer. We did lots of stuff, we worked on some Christmas gifts together. Katie and I are planning some handmade gifts for Christmas and we had lots of fun working on those projects. We took a ride to Vermont and we went out to eat at a nice restaurant named Carmady's. The best of it all was that we were all together and I enjoyed that so much. Baby Anthony is just so sweet and loving. He says a few words, not many but he is learning sign language very well. I am learning it too. We watched a video together that helps with learning sign language. But before the weekend was over he was calling me Nonna and I was able to sign eat, thank you, more, no more, and a sheep and a cow. LOL Do you think I need to learn much more?? LOL My heart would melt whenever I would hear Anthony say Nonna. What a doll baby he is. I can't wait to see him again.

I am in big trouble....
I have become hooked on crocheting. I don't know what has happened to me but I find myself dreaming of yarn, skeins of yarns, all sorts all colors and textures. I am longing to learn to do more then a double/single crochet stitch. I started working on a granny square blanket, a very colorful one.

I need to make lots more of those squares but I think this is a good start. Don't you? Now when I say colorful did I exaggerate? LOL I love them though.
I think I need some more color in my home. Maybe its my minds way of letting me know I need more color surrounding me. I went yesterday afternoon to AC Moores in Latham, NY and OMG they have a few rows of yarn that are just heavenly. I found myself like a kid in a candy store. I have an idea for a wrap I want to make for a gift. The yarn I was going to use was going to cost $120.00. So I decided to look for something that was less expensive in case I goofed up on this new adventure. I found a great looking yarn called Artisano and it was on clearance at $2.00 a skein there. So here it is, isn't it pretty, I hope I can make it the way I want. Wish me luck.

You know I need to stay out of craft stores. I need to stay as far away as possible. It was actually good that I went when I did because they were getting ready to close, so I didn't have too much time but I managed to get the yarn, get new needles, pick up a couple skeins of dmc that I needed but then I saw these stamps. Now I have not done any rubber stamping in a long time but I saw these and I just had to have them. I am such a weakling. SIGHHHHHHH, aren't they so cute.

I have no idea what I am going to do with them, but I had to have them. I think I am going to make some cards with them. I can't wait to color them, that is going to be fun.

It's Memorial Day once again, and lots of family gatherings, picnics and barbecues are going on. The official opening of pool, beach and summer fun. I hope that you will take a moment to remember the soldiers who have lost their lives fighting for all the things we have and enjoy. I don't mean to sound so gloomy but it just seems so strange that so many people drink and party on a day that is supposed to be for remembering so much loss of life. Whatever you do today I hope you have a wonderful day!

I don't have any crosstitching updates and that makes me sad. Has it been so long since I have crosstitched? I have been stitching but with a different fiber, lol crocheting. I have begun making granny squares for a happy blanket for my guest room. Yep, very happy. I have never in my life crocheted with such bright colors but I am enjoying it. I am craving color all of a sudden. I think it might be the results of such a long cold winter and a serious Vitamin D deficiency. All of a sudden I want lots more color in my home. Is there anyone else feeling like that?

A little over a week ago, my grandson Anthony got his tonsils and adenoids removed and had tubes put in his ears. He is just 18 months old now. What a time it was for him and the family. We felt so bad seeing him going through this. He has lost a lot of weight from not eating. He cries all the time and has trouble sleeping. He doesn't want to eat anything, including icecream or icee pops, and getting him to drink anything has been so hard. Poor little guy. I hope and pray he feels better soon and gets back to being his sweet little happy self. Must be the season for the children of this family to have tonsil trouble. Victoria my granddaughter and Anthony's cousin has tonsilitis a few times already. This past week she had a bad bout of tonsilitis, so bad that when she went to see her doctor he sent her to the emergency room to make sure they were not abscessed. At the hospital they gave her IV medications to fight the tonsilitis and to hydrate her a bit. They sent her home with a prescription of a stronger medication to help get rid of the tonsilitis for once and for all and get them removed. The medication has to be the smelliest, nastiest stuff I have ever come across & needless to say we have done everything to try to get her to take her medicine and she won't. They added flavor to it and still and all its horrid. I am sorry to say but it smells like dog poop! Really its that bad and it cost $100.00 what a shame. So my daughter called back her own pediatrician and told him whats been going on. Its been a couple days and Tori still is not getting better and no antibiotics going in her, except for a few drops that we weaseled in before she upchucked it at us. BLECK!! The pediatrician was shocked that the ER Doctor gave her this medication and the strength he gave it to her was not even for her size,age and weight. It has some of the worse side effects too, so her medication was changed immediately. I can't tell you how bad we all feel and angry too. You just can't trust anyone, you really need to do your own research and thats so scary. Never a dull moment around here.

I can hardly believe that tomorrow is June 1st. School will be over in just a few short weeks. This school year went by pretty fast. As most of you know after this job is over I usually work every summer for our local summer recreation program and I have been seriously thinking of not working this time. I still watch my grandchildren and the convenience of the Summer recreation is that I bring them along. But I have been kind of undecided whether to work there this year. I love being home too, and getting some work around the house done and lots of quality time with grandchildren, and stitching, and out in the backyard just living. Have to really give this lots of thought.

MY OFFERING

I am so happy that I have finished this piece. It took me a lot longer then I ever thought it would. I just love it and I am going to make it into a nice size pillow for my sofa.

This weekend the weather has just been so lovely. We got a visit from my daughter Katie, husband Tony and my sweet grandson Anthony. Anthony has been walking and running all over the place.

Another Post so soon...LOL I just had to share these pics.
I know there are a lot of you that are know all about the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and lots of you that are Tombies, that just love Tombstones. I just had to share these pictures with all of you, they are of Sleepy Hollows Cemetery here in New York. These pictures were taken by my nephew and his girlfriend. I am dying, ugh no not really but very anxious to go there myself and see what other interesting tombstones there are.

Here is the tombstone of the very popular Katrina Van Tassel.

Good Grief, there he is the Headless Horseman, thats him actually roaming around the cemetery. I am glad that he didn't catch them taking his picture. I met up with him once before and he was every bit as scary as you can just imagine.

I have been so neglectful of my little blog here, shame on me but
the past weeks have been very busy. There was Mother's Day, a couple barbecues, a birthday party, lots of company, some babysitting, a book fair, a concert, lots of working... and somehow in the midst of it all I managed to stitch a little. I have been stitching for a little while every day after work on my Village from CHS. Its taking me a long time to get that next block done but I am enjoying it so isn't that what matters. I just love the colors of this design and I am enjoying personalizing it. On the block I am working on now it has a name of a bed and breakfast. I am changing the name of it to one that friends of ours owns. Jill and her husband Mike own the Shinglekill Falls which is a popular attraction up here in the upper Catskills. Its a lovely waterfall and they have a bed and breakfast right by it. It has been in their family for years. I can't wait to personalize the rest of the charts for my little village here.

We had a wonderful time on Mother's Day. My daughter Jennifer's, sister in law Tara came over with her husband and family, she is also expecting another baby in a few weeks. She brought me these lovely petit fours. Jen and I got up extra early and cooked lots of good food together, so that after it was all ready we could just enjoy ourselves and our families.
Yep these are every bit as good as they look. They were filled with raspberry filling and some with lemon and raspberry together. Wow they were yummy.

I asked my husband to get me one of the cakes from our local bakery, its filled with fresh strawberries and cream that is so heavenly. I thought it would be a perfect dessert for Mothers Day. Isn't it pretty??

I mentioned a concert. My little Victoria and her first grade class put on a lovely Spring concert last week. It was very nice and the kids did so well. Here is Miss Victoria before the concert and with her classmates singing You're a Grand Old Flag. They all sang so nice and so sincere. What a nice concert it was.

I had so many things I wanted to write about but I will save some for tomorrow. I need to skoot off to bed.

After a nice long 3 day weekend, (no work on Friday since there was a superintendents conference, and lots of much needed yard work, I was excited to think I would get lots of stitching time in and would finally be able to post a finish. Bah humbug, no finish at all but I did get some stitching time in which was fun. This one design My offering, is just taking me forever. I sure got fooled by it. Everytime I think I am almost done, I realize I have so much more. HUH? this design has gotten me totally crazy, if I didn't like it so much I would hate it.

I was so tired of it the other night that I had to start something else LOL I found this adorable Hare design on Plum Street Samplers Blog, thank you Paulette, and I am absolutely loving these little Hares. There are quite a few that she has designed and I want to stitch them all. Wouldn't they all be so sweet looking in a basket together.

My weekend wasn't a total lost, I did manage to catch up on some mending, fixing and hemming. So did my granddaughter Victoria. I am always fixing dolls, bunnies,doggies all sorts of things that somehow find their way in Maya and Dingo's mouth. They like to play tug-a-war with Tori's babies. Tori will always bring them to me to repair, so yesterday I sat on my bed and started mending. Tori asked could she try and I was a little nervous about giving her a sharp needle. Any sewing projects she had done before were with a plastic needle but I thought well she has to learn sometime. I am happy to say she was pretty good at it and very careful. She made some tiny little stitches and managed to fix what was a monkeys tail there. LOL Look at those little dirty feet, hmmm. Well, I am so happy that she did a little sewing. I had bought her sewing cards before but she was bored with them, now I can find little projects for her to sew and now to teach her to crosstitch. Oh the possibilities. :) I hope she learns to love stitching as much as I do.

Good Morning, Good Morning!!
A week has gone by since my last post. I have the week off from work and caught up with some housework and spring cleaning. Did someone speed up the clock? I have never seen time go so fast,geesh, I need another week.
The best part of this week was visiting with my daughter Katie and her family. I got to spend lots of time with my little Anthony and spoil him a bit. What a doll he is. He is walking and running all over now. I have some new pics to share and will do that soon but I want to share a picture first of my granddaughter Victoria. My daughter Jennifer and her family are heading back home from Florida and they stopped to visit my older daughter Jaime in Virginia. Jaime sent me this picture this morning and I just had to share it. She is her aunts spitting image, and a glamour girl like her too. Jaime is queenie around here so I guess Victoria is after her crown. I love it.

I am so pleased this morning, at 10'oclock is a very favorite movie of mine and my children. Hans Christian Anderson with Danny Kaye. What a wonderful movie. It will be on Turner Classic Movies. Its a fairytale and so wonderful. Hans Christian Anderson wrote some of my favorite childhood stories, Thumbelina, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperors New clothing, the Little Mermaid and so many more. To see Danny Kaye tell and sing these stories is so wonderful. Please watch it if you see this post. It is such a nice story for both young and not so young. At 10:00 am I will be plopped down in front of my tv stitching in hand, thats for sure.

Today is the holiest day of the year for Catholics and Christians. The Resurrection of Our Lord. A day to renew our faith and celebrate life. What ever way you celebrate, I wish you all the very best Easter.

Are those flowers I see??
This past Sunday I drove the 6 hour drive to Maryland to meet up with my oldest daughter, Jaime and her hubby. They drove 4 hours from their home in Virginia. We called it Operation Daddy Pickup. He went home with them for a little visit. He is so happy to be going there. Our sil Armando and him I am sure are going to have a wonderful time. They plan on going fishing and having lots of fun together.
We met at the Maryland House and outside of it were flowers. I had to take pictures, what a joy to see flowers and green grass. It is still so cold and gray up here in the mountains. I am waiting patiently for some little signs of spring on my land.

This past weekend was lots of fun in addition to the trip to Maryland on Saturday I went to a lovely baby shower for my friend Mary Ann's daughter who is expecting a little girl in May. It was at a restaurant and the food was fantastic. I sampled a lots but my favorite was chicken breast stuffed with feta cheese and spinach. OMG was it good. I don't even like feta cheese or spinach but I do now. YUMMY!! My friend asked me to make her daughter a taggy blanket since she seen others I had made and I did. I just love how it came out. I think it was my best one yet, it was so perfectly even. I know it was because of the scissors and lots of patience. I had bought a really nice gingher sewing scissors a long time ago and they disappeared. The other day my daughter returned them to me because she found them in her bedroom, oh didn't I remember she borrowed them. UGH!! Well I am thankful I got them back, I think I am going to put an alarm on them because they are wonderful. Like cutting through butter with them. So smooth.

I just love this fabric and the cheerful colors.

I recently found a recipe on a blog but I am not sure which one, so if you are reading my blog and this is your recipe, I just want to tell you, you get 10 stars from me because this was out of this world. I just loved them. They are not just yummy they are pretty too. LOL
Yep, those are fresh raspberry tarts, with a lovely cheesecake filling. They are just sooo good. I hope to make some more this weekend.

Here is a little stitching update. I finished one towel awhile back and the past couple days I finished another. My very first Christmas gift for 2010. I think I am going to give them to my friend Marie. Her favorite color is blue. She doesn't go on the computer or do any blogging so I can mention it without her finding out.

Stitching Updates

Hey everyone,
Not a whole lot of stuff going on up here. Just been busy with work and everyday things. Trying to take a little time each evening to stitch.
I finished this cute little primitive stocking, by Hands to work. I have had the chart for awhile and came across it the other night and decided to stitch it. I love that this chart came a small paper bag. Very cute packaging. Isn't the design sweet? It is supposed to be a Christmas ornament but its just too cute to use just for Christmas, Don't you think?? I love that it is small, I didn't stitch it as small as they recommended but I like it just the same. I finished it all by hand because I still have not taken my sewing machine out of its box. UGHH shame on me. Well, I kind of think it looks a bit more primitive done by hand.

I had to share this picture of someone really sweet and special. This is my daughter holding her new niece Gianna. Gianna is my dear friend Illeana's very first granddaughter. I know how thrilled she is after having a house full of boys. What a little doll, and look at that hair. I can't wait to see her and hold her myself in a couple weeks.

I love fabric trims of all kinds and I found these adorable vintage ones on ebay. Of course I don't know what I am going to use them for but I had to have them. I fell in love with that little russian doll trim and the lamb one too. I would love to find loads more like this.

Here is an update on some other stitching. I am hoping to finish the stitching that is left this weekend. Then I am going to find a really nice fabric to make it into a nice big pillow. What do you think? Something with pears maybe?? I think it would make a much better pillow then just being framed. The more I look at this design the more I like it, wouldn't it be great if I could find a patriotic pear design fabric?? I am going to start searching.

Snow, Stitching, Stash and Scissors.

Can this really be the last day of February? It has been snowing 5 days straight here and we are buried in snow. We had power outages a few times. I am thankful we have a generator. I took some pictures of the snow during our storms and made a little flick'r badge with them if you care to look, its on the right sidebar of my blog. It is a very beautiful sight to see but it gets tiring. March is certainly coming in like a Lion. I love that saying. Just one more month (hopefully) and the maybe we will get some sunshine. I sure could use some.
In honor of our days off I started and finished something new.

A friend gave me this chart a long time ago and I have wanted to stitch it so FINALLY I did. It's called Bronwyns Biscornu by Primitive Traditions. I didn't use the colors it called for which was just two shades of brown and I am sure that would have looked nice, certainly more primitive. I was in the mood for something more cheerful.

I bought some threadworx threads awhile back and they are just so pretty. I used one called Kaleb's Cherry Patch. It's such a pretty blend of browns and pinks. Once finished I realized I didn't have any polyester stuffing so I stuffed it with doll pellets. I decided not to put a button in the center. I just kind of like it the way it is. Isn't it pretty? I just love these biscornus.
Market is over and I am thrilled with all the new things that are out. I ordered the new book by Blackbird Designs called Honeysuckle Manor. I can't wait to get it, I am so thrilled with Blackbird design books. They are always filled with so many great fun charts and creative ideas.

Next order I hope to get some new Primitive Needle designs and not to mention the brandnew Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow. It's a beauty too.

I remarked to a couple friends that I could have weaved a basket faster then it took me to crosstitch this little basket. It seemed to take forever but I am very pleased with it and anxious to stitch the rest of the design which is just so cute.
I just love the little pears in this design.
Now here are 2 of my grandbabies, aren't they sweet. Baby Anthony came to spend the weekend with us with his Mama and got to spend time with his favorite cousin Tori. Tori is 6 now and Anthony is just 1. They are so cute together. Tori acts like a mama around him or a big sister. She climbed in the playpen with him and they napped for 2 hours together.

While looking around on ebay I came across this book

How could I resist it. I just got it in the mail and I am anxious to read it. It is supposed to make a modern reader understand what a womans life would be like living in early New England and/or colonial times. There are some lovely illustrations in it also. Some tombstones and some needleart, samplers and other lovely things made during that time, women's art as they called it. Isn't it funny how married women were called Goodwives, and addressed as Goody this or Goody that. I would be Goody Sharon LOL I can't help but think of Goody Goody gumdrop! I wonder if anyone else remembers that saying... or am I showing my age. UGH!!

Have you heard of Mrs Meyers products?

I have been hearing so many good things about her products and have been wanting to try them. They are all natural products. I found some at HomeGoods and they smell just heavenly. I wish I had a scratch and sniff blog so I could share the scents. I just love them, I am anxious to buy some more. Next I want to try the soaps and dishwashing stuff.

I should be sleeping

but I can't. The wind is howling outside and the snow is coming down hard. I will be so happy when this winter is behind us. I don't mind it so much if the sun is shining. But lately it has just been so gloomy.
I feel like one of the brides in seven brides for seven brothers, when they were snowed in till Spring thaw. If my husband starts to sing,dance and swing me around I will know we definitely have cabin fever.

I found this cute background with the little pears and had to use it. I have a thing for pears. Pears and Crows. I am not exactly sure why it started but I started collecting pear and crow items. When I find a design with either on it I just have to get it. I started this one last week, yep another new start. It's a cutie. I bought this a couple years ago at Strawberry Sampler. I came across it the other day while oohing and ahhing my stash and just had to start it. The basket is taking the longest. All the threads are overdyed but the basket thread is dmc 869 and it just seems to be taking forever. I do love it though. I guess I should have did it on a smaller count. I used a 32 count fabric and its still bigger then I thought it would be.

I put down my crochet hook for awhile until earlier tonight when I was playing around with some cotton thread and made this washcloth in a short time. I still like my original washcloth pattern better but thought I would try and change and see how it would come out. I have some orders from friends for more so I better get my crochet hook in gear again. They are so much fun and easy to make.

Have you feasted your eyes yet on the Autumn of Hawk Run Hollow, BESTILL MY HEART!! I love it, its soooo gorgeous. I have only seen a few blocks but so far its a definite must stitch but I also bought the Christmas one and have not even finished the others. LOL Finished, I barely started... OY!! Kathy Barrick I wish I could stitch as fast as you can design these gorgeous pieces of yours.

I had so much fun stitching this and then putting it together. Tanya included directions for a Herringbone stitch so thats what I stitched all the way around and she was right it was just what it needed. They do look like little laces.

I also wanted to share a special ornament that my sister friend Siobhan made me. We both love these Prairie Schooler Santas, and she surprised me with this one. Isn't it darling. I just love it. I should have taken a picture of the back too. It is finished perfectly with a wool houndstooth back, so pretty. Thank you again dear friend. I will treasure it. Hey is that me that Santa is bobbing up and down. LOL

This was a great weekend, I did a lot of cooking (& eating) and spent some time with my daughter Jennifer and her children. It was lots of fun. I bought us a new Monopoly Board game to play. I thought it was so funny. No more money in monopoly, only a credit card and a machine. LOL No more passing out all them bills. We all enjoyed it. No more buying boardwalk, or railroads, we buy COUNTRIES!! LOL Just like the children I got a big kick out of using the little banking ATM machine. It made me wonder are they preparing for the future maybe there will be no paper money at all. As is I know quite a few people who don't carry any cash and use their ATM cards for everything. It was fun I must admit and interesting.

Got some new stash today. I saw that so many had stitched these ornies and I of course had to give in and have them. Aren't they cute? I can't wait to stitch them. I think they will be my first ornies for the new year.

Here are just some of the cotton washcloths I have been stitching. I have already given 2 packs of 5 away. I have crocheted 34 so far. 34 OMG I can hardly believe it, that is unbelievable for me to make 34 of anything. They are so easy and fun though. I love the assortment of colors the cotton yarn comes in. The striping yarn is the most fun I think.

Tonight my husband, sil Tony, and my grandson Tyler all went to the Jeff Dunham Show in Albany. Tyler is so excited, he can't wait to see "Achmed" I think this will be a night he won't forget for a long time. So while they are away I am going to work on my Clara's Skating Sampler and try to finish it. I don't have much more to do. I just took this picture to share. I just love it. Maybe tomorrow I can announce my very first 2010 stitching finish, the washcloths don't count.

I am forever changing the look of my blog I know. I am always finding these great little blog designs that I think THIS IS IT!! The look that I want. Then after a few days I get bored with it. There is no hope for me. LOL
I just found these very same buttons among my stash so I thought it might be fate to use this design, at least for a few days anyway.
I have been working on my Claras sampler and I am so close to the end. I can't wait to be finished and make it into a small pillow.
I wanted to share these pictures with everyone. This owl has found a home on our property and very close to the front door too. I couldn't resist taking pictures of him/her. I have never seen an owl so close before except maybe at the zoo. I think he is just so beautiful. We can hear him hooting all the time. He is pretty big too. Hope one of my mini dachshunds are not on his menu.
The first one shows how close I was to him and the second I zoomed in on him. Isn't he beautiful?

My stitching plans so far for 2010 will be Ann Grimshaw, a reproduction sampler that is just gorgeous. I have to order it and the supplies. A few friends have already stitched it and I couldn't resist stitching it too. I have not been this excited about a big sampler in some time. I can't wait to get started.

Just a quick check in to say hello and hope everyone is keeping nice and warm and toasty in this awful cold snowy weather we have been having. Goodness that was a long sentence.
My daughter Jaime and her husband came to visit us from their home in Virginia. I have not seen them in months so its been a wonderful visit for us. We have been having so much fun. We have been going out to eat so much I am getting very spoiled. We stopped at dunkin for some coffee and here is a picture and Jaime and I.

Jaime is my oldest child, she is 33 years old and married now for 10 years.
She got to spend some time with her brother and sisters, and nephews and niece too. Here is Anthony and Ray in their New York hats. My two boys...

I will have more pics uploaded in a few days. Not much time for stitching and I have been dreaming nightly about what I am going to be stitching for 2010. Need to make a list soon.

Happy New Year everybody, hope you are all had a wonderful time welcoming in the New Year. 2010 WOW!! I don't know about the rest of you but I was not sorry to see 2009 go. 2010 just has to be better than last year. I am filled with Hope.

I have been Skyping. Yep, my husband and I have gotten hooked on Skype. If you have a camera on your computer, you need to try Skype. All my children and a few friends have cameras so we can talk back and forth and see each other. The picture quality is wonderful. A few years back I talked with my daughter Jaime on the computer and the video quality was so poor and there was always a delay. Not any more. Its just like being in the room with the person you are skyping with. I skype everyday with my daughter Katie and baby Anthony. He is so funny, he now tries to climb up to get to the computer because he knows we are in there.
My Jaime and her husband had a New Years Party at their home last night in Virginia and she set up her computer so that her dad and I could be there without being there. It was fun and I got to talk to a lot of good friends and relatives we have not talked to or seen in awhile. We welcomed the New Year in all together. What fun.

I am not making any resolutions, I never stick to them. I usually have forgetten about them before January 1st is over. LOL This year I will just make wishes. I wish that I could stitch more, I wish that I could blog more, I wish that I could be healthier. There now, those are not wishing for too much. Right? I was thinking they are not impossible wishes and they are all things that I can work on.

Yesterday, I received a lovely gift in the mail from my friend Janice. I had to share it with all of you. She has spoiled me rotten this year. Thank you Janice, I love this and will treasure it. I also love the finishing, its such a great idea.

Now how can I drink coffee out of this cup, isn't it too cute to put hot drinks in.
My daughter Katie had this mug made for me with Baby Anthony's picture on it. He is chewing on his Spongebob Doll's foot. Look at those eyes how blue they are. Oh my sweet boy...

I just love him so much. Today they will be visiting this evening for an early New Years Eve celebration. I have a ham in the oven, made some macaroni salad that is Katie & Raymonds favorite. I am also making Arroz con Gandures or better known as yellow rice. Yes we are eating hearty tonight, this eve of New Years eve. LOL

This is what I have been working on. I started it and hope that I can make it my first finish of 2010. Its a design by Sampler Girl called Aunt Clara's Skating Sampler 1891. I bought it this past year and have been wanting to stitch it since. I think it will be perfect for January display. I hope Tanya (sampler girl) or Aunt Clara doesn't mind that I am changing the words just a bit. I want to add my name and 1972 to it because thats when my DH and I use to go ice skating together. Those were such fun times. We use to go with his sister and her boyfriend and we would skate for hours in Central Park Ice Skating rink, Wolman's. That was my favorite place to skate since I was a child in NYC. Me and my brothers and sisters would go there on weekends. What fun it was. We did skate in Rockefeller center before but it wasn't as fun as Central Parks rink which was huge
in comparison. More for families I think. I would like to go there again one day.

Aren't these the prettiest pillowcases you ever saw. These were a gift from my friend Janice. I just love them. They are perfect. Thank you so much, Janice.
No head will rest on them but mine. LOL

I have been busy making little washcloths/dishcloths. I am having so much fun with them. They are a very simple single crochet just 32 across and 38 rows. They seem like the perfect size. I haven't tried one yet but I guess I will find out soon enough.

I could not let another day go by without wishing all of my friends a very Merry Christmas.
I have neglected my little blog so much this past month. Now the big day has arrived and I am so sorry to see it rush by so quickly. We have spent the day with family, our children and grandchildren. Now we are all settled down watching Christmas movies. Just relaxing and letting all the food we ate digest. LOL Hoping to still have room for another piece of that big beautiful cheesecake that is covered with strawberries. My daughter Katie's mil Lori sent it to us for a gift.
I have lots of holiday photos to upload and will do that soon. Meanwhile wanted to share these with you.

Santa Claus has come to town...

One thing I especially love about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is the arrival of good old Santa at the end of it.
I just love that I get to share these times with my daughters and their children. It's so much fun to see their excitement and anticipation. Especially with our Victoria who is now 6 years old. A perfect age. She is sooo excited that Santa arrived in New York. Today in the mall with her parents she saw a Santa and told him how she saw him in the parade on Thursday. LOL We were planning on making a family trip to NYC and to visit the Santa at Macy's the second week of December. But since she saw this one in the mall, we can't do that. So we will just avoid Macy's all together. I love that she came home so excited that she saw Santa and talked to him.
Baby Anthony is now one year old and he had a wonderful birthday.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY

I couldn't let another day go by without updating my blog and wishing everyone the Happiest of Thanksgiving. I have been missing in action around here, just been really busy with work and family things, my husband was sick so long since he had the flu. He just wasn't recovering as fast as both me and his doctor wanted him too. It really hit him hard. But thank God he is starting to feel a bit better. That was the worse. We all went and got our H1N1 shots since we don't want to get hit with that again. A lot of people think you can't get it again once you had it but my doctor said yes we can so I am not taking any chances. LOL Give me all the needles you want just keep that flu far away from me.

I have pies in the oven, and earlier I baked a birthday cake for my little grandson Anthony who will be turning one tomorrow. Katie wanted his first cake to be baked by me. It's going to be fun. So it will be a combo thanksgiving day/birthday party. My son drove home from Kansas yesterday. He was working with the play Wicked while it was on tour. Now he is home for a little while at least until the next job. It is so nice to have him home. He got here at 4:30 this morning. That is some long drive. Long way to go for Mommy's turkey LOL

In honor of Thanksgiving I FINALLY had my GOBBLE framed and my 1803 Pennsylvania Sampler. I wish I had a better pic of the frame for Gobble. There is a coppery hint to the wood that you can't see in the crummy pic I took. I am soooo happy with it. It wasn't easy, every frame I picked out seemed to be no longer available. Well, at least now the framer was able to take down loads of frames that he no longer can get. Glad I could help him LOL I am happy this one was available. I should have waited till I went to Strawberry Sampler in Pennslyvania but I was so anxious to get these 2 framed and up on my walls for Thanksgiving. I also put together this little pillow, I think he is adorable. Love that little Gobbler. He was so easy and fast to stitch, putting the pillow together by hand was another thing. LOL That took a bit longer but I like the way he came out.

I have been stitching on lots of different things, I guess you could call it some sort of rotation. I started my ornaments and I am very pleased with what I have done so far. Still working on my Sampler Girls advent calendar too. Doing one block at time. It's coming along nicely and I hope to have it finished by December 1st. In time for my grandchildren to pluck the candy off of it. LOL I also have been working a little bit on VoHRH. I think I mentioned before this is the second time I started it. Last time I started it on a nice piece of 28ct linen and used the NPI silks and OMG they were just dreamy to work with. My only problem was my work was huge. So I started again on an 18ct piece of fabric with dmc threads and though it doesn't have the same look as the other, it still looks wonderful. I tried to stitch on 36ct and I can't seem to see it no matter what I do, but yet I can see 18ct. These are strange eyeballs of mine!! Anyway I am very pleased with it. I just wish I could move along a little faster on it. I purchased CoHRH and am anxiously waiting for the AutumnaHRH. Love that CHS stuff. I am never disappointed with any of Kathy's designs.
Well, my pies are ready and I am about to start some stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer tomorrow. I better get to it. Once again, Happy Thanksgiving to you all. xoxoxo

Can Thanksgiving really just be a few weeks away. I love this time of year. Just the thought of all that good cooking and eats makes my mouth water and my hips widen. Everyone will be coming here for Thanksgiving and also because it falls on my grandson's birthday as well, so we will have to have a birthday cake and lots of presents and fun for him as well. It will be wonderful.

I stitched this lovely little plump turkey yesterday in just a few hours, isn't he a cutie? Haven't decided how I will finish him yet but I will have to do it quickly. I would love to have him on display for Thanksgiving.
While going through Christmas charts and ornaments I have planned to work on, I came across a chart I bought a year or two ago. It is an advent calendar by Sampler Lady. Its so very sweet and I thought I would start it. Its really very easy to stitch and as you can see I got quite a few squares done. I misjudged my fabric size though but I am not going to start again, I will add some fabric on and just hope and pray that it won't fray before I get it done. I am tempted to make another for a gift, its really such an easy stitch.

I need to start on my ornaments very soon, have quite a few to make and a couple stockings too. This is the best time of year, the Christmas Stitching Rush.

Yesterday, I took all my Halloween decorations down and left a couple things out for thanksgiving. I can't wait to start Christmas decorating. I hear the decorations are out in Walmart already and I am dying to get there and check everything out. Have still been under quarantine around here with everyone still sick but should be okay for me to venture out tomorrow. I might go crazy once I am out there among people. LOL Can't wait. I hate being cooped up like this. I use to think I would never mind because I could get so much stitching done but I didn't get as much done as planned. Seems like I get more done when I am working everyday.

I couldn't let this day go by without wishing everyone a Happy Halloween. A beautiful day for it too.
I have been missing in action due to illness. My family has all come down with the H1N1 influenza and it has not been pretty around here. We are finally on the mend but still under quarantine and not feeling our best yet. Sometimes it feels like we will never feel well again but I know we will, with time.

I made up little Halloween bags for my grandkids that are still sick and added these little ornies as well. Not much but I hope it makes up a little for not being able to go Trick or Treating.

These ornies are from Prairie Schoolers Boo to you. They are just so cute, and stitched up pretty fast. They have just a stitch count of 42 by 32. I hope to stitch every single one. Not this year though.

I found this little pillow cover almost completed and decided to finish it. This design is from 2001 and I believe that is how long I have it in my UFO mountain err pile. LOL The words are all stitched with Glow in the dark thread. I have some buttons that I am going to add to it for added decoration and it will be put away for next years decorating. After today there will be more Halloween stitching for a few months anyway. I am so anxious to get started on Christmas Stitching.

Today is our grandson Anthony's very first Halloween and we won't get to see him in person but we are thinking of him. Katie sent me a picture of him all dressed up in his little Batman costume. He doesn't like that mask over his face though, thats okay who wants to cover up that sweet face anyway.

Good Morning Good Morning, what a lovely Autumn day it is today. First I want to thank all of you that left me such lovely comments on my recent finishes, thank you so very much. It is so much fun sharing. I am still making pumpkins and I am trying to come up with other ideas of things I can make this same way. I tried a pear but sure didn't look like a pear. LOL oh well, I will keep trying. It's lots of fun.

I want to share a wonderful Autumn gift I received from a friend Kathy . I just love everything. Thank you so very much, Kathy.

Isn't this pumpkin pinkeep gorgeous. I have it on my dresser right now on a its little easel frame and I know it will be part of my Autumn decorating for many years to come.

Look at this sampler fabric, I just love it. This is a wonderful pin pillow, its just perfect.

Here is a picture of my grandson Tyler. He found this very stange shaped pumpkin at the pumpkin patch. He is 12 now and not too thrilled that his grandmother keeps trying to take his picture. LOL That was his idea of a smile. UGH!!

Happy First Day of October

Can it really be October already. I love this time of the year, a chill in the air, leaves are falling, pumpkins need picking, new stash needs buying. Ahh yes the St. Charles market had some fabulous new releases. I have a big long list of things I want. #1 on my list is Christmas at Hawn Run Hollow. I have it on order and I am so excited about it. There are loads of Blackbirds, Primitive Needle, and Plum Pudding charts that I want also. My list is ever growing. In September I also got Tis Halloween by Blackbird designs. This book is just fabulous. It is filled with the little stockings that Barb and Alma design but all with a Halloween theme. Each one is gorgeous. I have just fallen in love with this book and will share some pics of things I have made from it, hope everyone likes them.
First, I made this adorable little Jack O'Lantern stocking, I finished it myself and added a matching fabric in the back. I love trims so I had to add that little black edging to it to make it complete. Its all done by hand and I just love how it came out.

I then made color copies of my stitching and made these little necklaces.

I didn't stop there, then I got myself some velveteen and dyed it into two different orangey shades so that I could make these adorable little pumpkins. Aren't they sweet? I filled them with my favorite Crushed walnuts and they are so solid and heavy. I just love how they look.

I plan on making lots more of these and I have them cut and pinned already just need to find the time to sew them together. They are so soft. My grandchildren love them so I am making them all one and the children as a little halloween giftie.
I would love to say I came up with all these great ideas but I didn't. They are all in the Tis Halloween book by Blackbird Designs.
I know I have been missing in action around here. Not because I wanted to be, just so many things going on both family and work has been keeping me very busy. I really need to post more, I get so many ideas in my head and then just need to write them out.

I got mine, (thank you, Janice). I couldn't find it anywhere so Janice was so nice to get me one and send it to me. I just love it. There is something for everyone in it. What a treat it is. I already know I want to stitch Skating in Central Park. My husband and I when we were dating a zillion years ago use to go skating there, also when I was a child my parents would take me and my brothers and sisters there. What fun. Then when my siblings were a little older they would take me all on our own and we would walk there from our apartment in New York City. I will never forget my sister Linda was the only one of us kids who couldn't skate and they brought her out to the middle of the rink and left her there. She crawled back through the skaters on her hands and knees, poor thing. I was the youngest and I told my parents and they got in trouble big time for doing that. I am sure Linda found a way to get back at them over the years. LOL

Hey friends,
Hope all is well with everyone! I am sorry I have been so neglectful of my little blog here. Back to school(work)and I have been just so tired, the first week was exhausting. I never was so happy to see a Saturday roll around. It was a good Saturday too. I got to catch up on lots of mail and also some stitching.
I have a finish... this is Little Houses "Liberty and Justice", part of their "All Dolled Up" series. I just love this design. I stitched it on what was called for Lambswool 28ct. After I finished it I started it again to make the little tin necklace design that was included with the chart. This is on 28 ct over one, so tiny, you can see how small it is in the picture. I think its adorable. I hope that tomorrow I can finish her.

Good mail came today too Ida Mae Crow, she is such a cutie. I am on a crow, raven, blackbird kick and she is perfect. The fabric I am going to stitch her on is 32ct Relic.

I am so happy that Autumn is on its way. Leaves are starting to fall around here already. This is the best time of year. Love the feel of the air, the smells, the food. Just have to make me something with pumpkin. Maybe Pumpkin bread or muffins or cookies. Or all of the above. Soon it will be apple and pumpkin picking time. I have so many projects for autumn and I want so much to just tell everyone about them but some are for gifties, for a couple friends who read my blog. So I have to keep my trap shut tight!! but will share pics soon I promise.
I finally restarted my CHS Village. Have you seen the previews of Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow? I got to see it in person and its lovely, the pictures being showed lovely as they are don't do this gorgeous piece justice. I think it will be my favorite of the series, unless of course the rumors of an Autumn Hawk Run Hollow are true.

I did it, I finished it. I just love it too. Its very special to me. I love the colors. I wish my house was that color, heck I wish birds were that color too. LOL
I had hoped to have both this piece and Its Berry Time finished by tomorrow, Aug. 31 After I finished that piece I picked up Its Berry time to put some stitches in it, and I found an error. just one stitch over, UGHH don't you hate that. I was about to start frogging when I thought, hey summer is almost over I don't want to stitch this piece now. I can't think of berries when there is a cold breeze in the air. Our leaves are already falling, so I have to put this summer time piece away till next year. Time to start thinking of pretty autumn colors, crunchy leaves and pumpkins.

So I will carefully tuck this piece away. See ya next year.
Yesterday I bought this pretty yarn called Autumn Print. I just love it. I hope to make myself a scarf with it. It will be perfect for a nice long walk on an autumn day here in the Catskills.

I got loads of things going on in my mind that I want to make and stitch. I will be sure to share them with you over the next few weeks. Have a wonderful Sunday evening.

I just got it today and I love it. I can't stop playing with it. I should be in bed. LOL I had such a busy day. We took our granddaughter to the park today.

I tried to take so many pictures of her but she just wasn't cooperating. I couldn't get her to look directly at me or smile. She just wanted to play, and I can't blame her that. Who wants your grandma flashing a camera in your face nonstop. LOL
After we took her out to eat and then to do a little shopping. Then this evening, the grandchildren, their mom and I all went back to school shopping so I think I need a good nights rest. No stitching today, hopefully tomorrow. Night all. xoxo

I was looking at my dashboard today and saw that this would be my 300th post. HURRAH for me. 300 posts.
A busy morning for me, I did a little stitching and also made new curtains for my family room, which happens to be where I keep my little computer here. This window has 3 panels, and I am very happy about the way they came out. What I like especially is that they are reversible. The other side of the curtains is a striped pattern so I thought around the holidays I would switch them around.

Here is an update on Pennsylvania Sampler, I just love it and hope to finish it up today, tomorrow the latest. It has been a very enjoyable stitch.

Do you remember Love's Baby Soft? I remember when I was younger, I just loved it. I wore it all the time. It was just so sweet and nice. I went to the pharmacy today and to my surprise they had this special offer, a big bottle of Love's Baby Soft body spray with a matching bottle of lotion both for $4.99. I must not be the only one who loved it because the display only had one offer left and I snatched it right up. What a good deal, how I wish I would have gotten there earlier and bought more. Okay I am the worlds biggest baby. LOL but it sure smells nice.

Once again in my neverending quest to buy every eldreth piece of pottery I see and want, I have found another lovely little piece of pottery. This one reminds me so much of my home in the mountains. Isn't it pretty?

A little update on my Pennslyvania Sampler House. I am loving this design.
I am stitching it on 32 ct. Vintage Country Mocha. Last year I bought a yard of this and it was the best investment I ever made. It got me through quite a lot of projects and the mottling on it was just fabulous.

Hope to work on it some more this evening. I was digging through some stash this morning, oy why did I ever do that. My goal was to weed things out that I would never stitch and all I did was find so many things that I just have to stitch right now immediately. LOL Funny how you buy new things and you sort of push the older things out of your mind to do the new things until more new things come out. Its just MADNESS!! Have a great day!!

Look who came for lunch...

This is not my yard but someone in my area, they printed the picture in our little local newspaper and just had to share. We are always getting bears in our yard, wandering around the property. They can be quite bold. My biggest fear is one entering my home. Thank goodness for our dogs who always let us know when they are around. We have stopped feeding the birds and also removed our raspberry bushes. That seemed to attract the bears a lot. We were feeding the birds year round but now we will just feed them in the winter time when the bears are hibernating.

I have been working on both It's Berry Time and this CHS design that was a gift from Kathy Barrick herself. Pennsylvania House. I love them both. I am going to try hard to finish them both by the end of August. Hope I can do it.

32 years have gone by since you were born. You were so tiny and sweet, so fair and with jet black perfect hair on your head. The doctor handed you right to me and you stole my heart. You didn't want to be taken from me. They lay you near by and you turned to my voice and I thought wow she knows me already. You were such a good baby too and always laughing.
The years have flown by too fast. Thank you for all your love and caring, for being a wonderful daughter, for making me so very proud every single day, for making me a mom again to your husband, for making me a grandmother twice, for letting me share your children with you, for serving your country, thank you for the job you do, the love and respect you give me and your father, and yourself. Here it is My Seven Stars. I just love this piece. I have not put a back on it yet but will do that soon. I am anxious to use it on an end table. Hope you like seeing it as much as I enjoyed stitching it.

Here is a small finish that I wanted to share with everyone. I just love this design and finally put it together. I filled it with crushed walnut shells and added that trim. Its from an earlier Blackbird Design Autumn Song. I just love this leaflet. I am planning on making the Autumn Song design which is a lovely blackbird surrounded by autumn leaves. They show it made into a round box and I hope to make it as close to the way they have done it as possible. Its just so pretty.
I love trims and I am always searching for new pretty ones. I found these the other day in Joann's. Each spool was just $2.50 and has 15 feet of trim. A great bargain I thought. I can't stop thinking of all the things I can make just to trim them with these lovely trims.

I have been busy with Summer recreation at the park. The children and us counselors have been having lots of fun. Yesterday we had a day of Clown School. The children had 5 separate Clown Classes to attend during the morning and if they completed each, they got to graduate from Clown school. It was lots of fun. I was in charge of clown costumes which consisted of hats and bow ties. I made the children funny hats and gigantic bow ties and they had to decorate them anyway they like. That was lots of fun. There was a juggling class, a face paint class, a balloon art class, and my favorite class of all was the HAHA class. Here the children learned how to laugh and make others laugh as well. It was pretty funny.

I just had to share something cute I found on ebay. I just love redware and I found this cute little bowl that I had to have. It is a Zettlemoyer pottery piece which is Traditional Penslyvania German Redware. I am getting so hooked on this stuff. I am planning on redecorating a bit this fall and I am anxious to display all my redware in one spot. Of course I need a great spot, and I need more redware. I love this design of the 2 headed eagle. It is also known as the double dove. It represents strength and courage, the heart in the center is for love in marriage. This design is attributed to George Hubener, 1786. If anyone knows anymore information about it I would love to hear from you.

Here I am again, still trying to get back into the rhythm of daily life after such a wonderful vacation time with my friends. Here are a few more pictures I wanted to share with everyone.
One place we always visit is Eldreth Pottery in Lancaster. I just love it there, we always buy ourselves a special piece to remember the day. This year I bought this lovely plate. It was perfect. The blackbirds represent a couple things to us, blackbird designs, black birds we saw at Kitty's, and the flag reminds me of our love of country and the beautiful folk art that is american made, and reminds us so much of our wonderful American history. I usually walk around the store until something just speaks to me and thats what this plate did.

While shopping I came across this other plate that was in the seconds area because of a scratch on the back of it. A deal too great to pass up and I love that pumpkin so it spoke to me too, take me home take me home. Isn't it pretty. I love redware, and salt glazed ware too but something about that redware. I still am undecided where I am going to display them. I would love to have a cabinet full of redware pieces. I bought 2 nice plate hangers for these but they are far too heavy for them so I am going to have to look for stronger ones.

We also visited Strawberry Sampler quite a few times.

What a wonderful store this is. So many goodies and they frame things so wonderfully.

I stocked up on threads and got a few lovely pieces of fabric. Not to mention some fun charts. Not all were new but some that I had to have, we know how that goes. Lisa from Primitive Needles Trunk Show was there and it was fabulous. I wish I took a picture of Lisa next to it.

Here is me spending money as usual,LOL. Wow I am big, what happened to that girly figure of mine, must be buried in there somewhere. LOL That little face on my right shoulder is Siobhan happily spending money too.

I got Its Berry Time and Peacock Pinkeep by Blackbird designs. Oh I just love these designs. With my needles Tricks or treats and flag day, I just love that little plump sheep and lady. So cute. I also got Little Houses Liberty & Justice, Midcsummers nights Liberty and A Patriots Sampler. Plum Street Samplers Seven Day of creation, and I just know I am forgetting something. I had made a promise to myself that I was only going to buy some fabric and threads. That idea went out the window the moment I stepped into Strawberry Sampler and Salty Yarns. Oh I got lots of fabrics and threads too. My favorite was a large piece of Heritage by PictureThisPlus. Oh my gosh its so lovely. I am not even sure what I am going to stitch on it but I know I am going to enjoy it. The variations of color in this fabric are just gorgeous.

I also bought some 10ct black heatherfield for a Halloween Project I am planning. I forgot my favorite chart of all. Kathy Barrick gave this one to me and it is gorgeous: 1803 Penslyvania Sampler house. It reminds me of my visit to her wonderful home. I think this will be the next piece I start. I would love to have it displayed near all my redware.

I am home from the most incredibly wonderful vacation I ever had. I didn't take a plane or a train or leave the country. Just took a 5 hour ride to meet my friends Siobhan and Melissa in Delaware. What a wonderful time we had. I arrived there last Wednesday and stayed till Monday. I should have wrote a blog update sooner but I had to come home and get right back to work.
On Saturday we met up with Lisa from Primitive Needle, she drove all the way from Ohio to meet with us, what a sweetheart she is. So friendly and just one of the girls. We drove all together to our next stop and there was never a moment of silence. We just yakked the whole way and it was fantastic. I got to show her my Near Halloween that she designed, I was so thrilled that I could show her my work. I just love her designs and have lots of them just waiting to be stitched. We then drove to Kathy Barrick's (Carriage House Sampling) house. OMG what a treat. I had met her before but to actually be invited to her lovely home was just unreal. Thank you Siobhan especially for setting this up for us. You are the Da Bomb girlfriend. What a treat at Kathy's house, she also invited Carol (from Samplerfarm) who I have always wanted to meet. Her stitching is so fabulous. Also there was Joanne Ambrose another great stitching lady. They both stitch lots of Kathy's designs. Both of them are just the nicest ladies and I just had so much fun talking with them. Kathy set us up a lovely brunch, and everything was so nice. Siobhan took us for a tour of her home which I am still in awe over. Her home is so filled with lovely things, so many gorgeous antiques, it was like stepping into one of her very lovely samplers.
We had such a blast and Kathy's husband took a picture of us all piled onto her bed. LOL That was so much fun.

From left to right, thats our Siobhan then me, then Joanne, Carol, Lisa, Kathy, and Melissa. Kathy is such a dear she has 2 of her own small dogs and she was doggysitting Anne from Goode Huswifes two little doggies and thats one of them in the picture. They were so sweet and friendly. They enjoyed all of us there too and were so friendly.
Afterwards a visit to Kathy's studio we got to see the work that has been done so far on Christmas of Hawk Run Hollow. Oh my what a lovely piece, I can't wait to get it. It is just so lovely. We even got to help pick out a frame for it. We also got to check out her lovely jewelry making studio and some of the most beautiful pieces she has made that I have ever seen. They were incredible.
After that we all went out to dinner together and that was more fun talking and just having a great time together. From there we went to Strawberry Sampler which was almost ready to close, we got there in time. Lisa was having a trunk show there so we all piled in to the store to check that out.
If you are in the area, you have to check out Lisa's trunk show, its just fabulous. I want to stitch everyone of her designs.
It was so difficult to say good bye to all these wonderful talented ladies. I had a great day one that I will never forget.
I have so much more to tell you about our weekend but I will save some for the next post. Still need to take some stash pictures too. Whoohooo

Today is my daughter Katherine's birthday, Katherine who most call Katie but I have been calling her Birdie since she was born. Birdie is 30 years old today. She is the youngest of my girls, what a sweet good baby she was.

Jaime is my oldest daughter and she is 33 years old today. How can those years go by so fast. Happy Independence Day!

Hurrah its Independence Day, I just love this holiday, love all the flag waving, and firecrackering, its the best time. To me its not really summer until the 4th of July arrives. Last night near our home there was a big fireworks display. One of the nicest I have ever seen. They even managed to do fireworks in the shape of a smiley face and a heart. How they did that I have no idea but it was amazing. So what are you doing for Independence Day? We will be having a small family BBQ. We were originally expecting a lot of company this week and weekend but everyone changed plans since the weather has been so rainy and gloomy. The best thing about todays barbecue is that the guys are doing all the work. Whoohoo that makes it even a better holiday. Right now my DH is peeling potatoes for potato salad. So while both he and my son in law are working on our meal, I will take some time for me and sit down and stitch. I have been working rather slowly on my 7 Stars piece and I am loving how its coming out. Here it is so far:

I have seen so many pretty pieces Patriotic stitched items the past few days while blog visiting. So lovely. I have a few but would love to have lots more. I do have 2 small pieces that are stitched but I had planned on framing but now I think I am just going to make little ornies or pinkeeps out of them. A quick trip to the store yesterday and I found a few patriotic fabrics. Pickings were very slim but I did manage to find these 3 and got a 1/2 yard of each for just .61 cents. Pretty good huh. I wish they had more of a choice but I like to think that everyone has patriotic stitching plans too, so thats okay. I am happy with these 3 for now.

Terrible Loss

How sad that we lost 2 such great entertainers in one day. Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. The first time I think I saw Michael Jackson was either on Ed Sullivan or American Bandstand. I loved all the Jackson 5 music. I heard this amazing young man sing ABC with his brothers and I want you Back and I was hooked. After those songs there was one hit after another and each one was great. What fun I would have with my friends as a young girl singing along to his music and trying to immitate his dance moves. LOL I wonder if my friends are rememembering the same things today. I know he has had so many troubles in the past years but I like to remember him for his talent and how much fun he was to watch dance. Will there ever be another with his talent. I doubt it. And Farrah Fawcett, oh my goodness, how could it be, she was 62 years old. The years have flown by, what a beautiful woman she was. Poor thing, I wish she didn't suffer so much with cancer. My heart aches for her. I like to think that Heaven is very busy today celebrating the arrival of such wonderful talent. God rest your soul, Michael and Farrah.

SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER!!

I am so thrilled that school is out for the summer. Woohoo. I have one big week off before my summer job starts. I will be back working with most of the children I just left. LOL thats okay, summer is the best. We always have so much fun.

My granddaughter graduated from Kindergarten and it was a lovely ceremony. The children are always so cute. After the ceremony there was cake and juice for all. It was such a nice time. Most of the pictures I took did not come out very well so I am waiting to check out my daughters pictures that she took and hope she got some better shots then me.

Had to share this picture that I took on Father's day, we all went out for breakfast and Tori while eating a pancake lost her front tooth. She lost one the week before in school.

I can't wait to see it complete so I can use it on my end table, I am stitching this design on a premade doily. It's called Seven Stars by Kathy Barrick of Carriage House Samplings. It reminds me of my visit to Pennslyvania with my sister friend Siobhan. There was a road named Seven Stars and the whole area was just so lovely.
I am so anxious to go back. We had such a good time.
Here is a hooked rug I purchased for my home, I just had to have it when I saw the little house and the pear trees. I just like it so much that I don't want to put it on the floor. LOL silly I know, I just don't want to see footprints and dog furries on it. LOL Isn't it pretty? Can you blame me.

Yes, I finished Tis Near Halloween and I just love it. So cute. I stitched it on 32 ct Pear by Lakeside with only one thread.

A friend of mind sent me some pictures of something she made and I think it is just fabulous. It's called a Battledore. I love hornbooks and hornbook designs and this is very similar. I am just fascinated by it. I am anxious to make one of my own. I love finding different things like this that involve crosstitching. I wanted to share it with all of you and I have her permission. School is coming to a close soon, today we have field day. It has been raining for days and the fields are soaked so I don't know how its going to work out. The sun is trying to peek through but I doubt it will be able to dry the fields up in time. I hope it will. The children have been looking forward to this for weeks. So have I. I even bought myself a field day shirt. LOL
My grandson Tyler had awards night the other night and I am happy to say he won 5 awards. A good citizenship medal, and an award for Math, Science and English. He also won an award for winning the regional spelling bee and got a poem published as well. Geesh he is a smarty pants. Glad he takes after me lol lol JUST KIDDING TYLER. Really he is just like his mama, I am so proud of him. He gets so embarrassed and didn't even want me to take this picture but I threatened him and said smiley picture or grandma will hug and kiss you in front of everyone and hold your hand all the way back to the car. LOL It worked!! Use to work on my children too.

I couldn't let one more day go by without saying thank you to all of you for your kind notes, thoughts and prayers you have sent to my family. It means so much to all of us. My son in law is home and recuperating. It has been a very hard ordeal for him but he is on the mend, thank you God. Hopefully he will be feeling much better soon. Thank you all so much.

I have finished my 15 piece biscornu. I couldn't wait to share it with everyone.

I can hardly believe it is done. Good Lord it made me crazy, so many times I just wanted to throw it out the window. My husband saw it when it was done and said THAT'S WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN MAKING? Yes, DH that was what I was mumbling and cursing about these past days. It is kind of cute isn't it? My biggest problem was not really putting it together it was a few spots that the threads were starting to fray and made it even more trickier, so if I ever make another I know I have to cut bigger squares.

Here are pics I took of a little visitor. I have a little bird feeder right outside the window near my computer. I love to see the birds eating there. While reading some mail I saw this little chipmunk peeking at me while he was eating the bird food. Too cute. I am so glad my camera was near by. He didn't even seem to mind his picture being taken.

Thank you all so very much for all your wonderful comments and emails that I got about Ellen Birdseye. I was so thrilled that everyone liked her so much. She is pretty and I have not had her framed yet but hopefully soon.

Once again, I have been so busy and every day thinking I need to update my blog but somehow I just don't get the chance. This weekend I spent time catching up with email and now that I have a moment will catch up with my little blog here too.

Lots of family things going on, including a very ill son in law Shawn who has been in the hospital. He has been ill for awhile and finally a little over a week ago had some major surgery. He is still very ill but getting a little stronger every day. Thank you God. He is my daughter Jennifers husband and more like a son to me then a son in law. I love him dearly. I hope he gets well and comes home soon.

and me I have just a small complaint... another lousy cold. UGH!! I hate colds summer, winter anytime. I hate being stuffed up and coughing all the time. People look at you like you are "Typhoid Mary" and can't say I blame them. LOL Since I work with children all the time I thought by now I would build up some immunity but guess not.

No new stash to speak of but I have been working on 2 things that I have been wanting to do for some time. One is a Halloween design by Lisa from Primitive Needle called Near Halloween. I am so forgetful but I think I won this chart as a door prize last year from Lisa. Thank you again, Lisa. I love it. I haven't gotten too much of it done but I just love that moon. I am stitching it with only one thread over 32 ct pear. It looks much better in person, I like the way the one thread looks. Looks even more primitive to me.

I read lots about a 15 sided biscornu and you guys know how much I love them, so I decided to try my hand at one. I started stitching the design that I found free on the internet at STITCH-CREATIONS. I am sorry that is not a link I have been trying to make one and for some reason Blogger is not cooperating this morning.
This is just a few of the squares I have done so far. I need to make 15 of them before I can put them together and I am really anxious to get them done. Aren't they pretty?

So look for an update soon on them. I can't wait. I think biscornus are the neatest little things.
The week after Mother's day we had a little luau. My 4 children came home and it was very nice to have them all here. We had lots of fun. I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked to, too many pina coladas & Bahama mamas I think. LOL But it was sooo much fun.

Couldn't let another day go by without updating my blog, especially on such a wonderful day as Mother's Day! Hope all of you have a wonderful day.
It has been so long since I posted and I didn't realize how many days had passed.
Yesterday we lost a dear family member. My daughter's cat Moses, who we call Mosey most of the time. What a love bug he was. He was 15 years old and our Katie's cat. When Katie got married she took him to her new married home with her DH Tony. He has been ill for the past months and going through a lot. Finally he passed away yesterday and my little Katie is absolutely devastated. We all are very sad to lose him. We have had him since he was a 5 week old ball of fur. They brought him home here to be buried on our property where he played for many years, chasing birds and sitting on the roof guarding us like he was a mountain lion. Mosey has been through proms, boyfriends, weddings, births and deaths, I like to think that he is up in heaven with my sister, who loved him too. We are all going to miss you so very much, Mosey.

I have not had much time for stitching lately, been really busy with work and family stuff. Not to mention I should make the Guiness World Records for having the worse cold in American History. They should bottle some of my germs and use them instead of ammunition in Wars, but I don't think I would wish this cold on an enemy. I just can't get rid of it. UGHH!!
Last Sunday, our little baby Anthony was christened. He is getting so big already. He is now 5 months old and such a sweetie. He laughs and chuckles nonstop. So much fun. Here he is with his parents. Katie & Tony.

I need to take an updated picture of Ellen Birdseye. I have just about finished with her. She is lovely. I just need to stitch two little buds on it that somehow I missed. In my excitement of thinking that I finished it I was admiring it and found the two bare buds. DARN IT! Have to dig out that color again. I never was so happy to see a piece done. I really loved it and its so very pretty but seemed to go on forever.

Oh darn, vacation is over already and back to work today. That went entirely too fast.
Here is an updated pic of my "Ellen Birdseye". I was so hoping to have it done but I need one more thread, #611. LOL I must have a cazillion DMC threads but not a 611 among them. I am going to make a special trip to Joanns just to pick it up today. Doesn't that just drive you crazy when you are missing one thread. It drives my husband crazy that I have to drive 40 miles there to get it. LOL Of course all will not be lost, because I get to look at other goodies there, like fabric.
I tried taking pictures of my work in different light so I can really share the mottling of this fabric. It is so pretty.
For those who asked what fabric it is, it is DAYS GONE BY by Silkweavers. I just love how this one came out and wish I would have bought a few more pieces at the same time.
Thank you all so very much for all the lovely comments on my work and my grandchildren. I really appreciate them. You are all so kind. Grandchildren are the best. I have so much fun with them.
Something happened yesterday and I wish I had taken a picture I don't know why I didn't except that I just didn't think of it at the time. My husband and I were in our storage shed looking through things and we found a big nest. First thought was horror thinking some awful animal had made a nest in there so I was ready to run. But DH said there was nothing in it, whatever was had surely gone. The nest was made up of all sorts of stuff but what thrilled me the most was it was filled and weaved all over with colorful threads. They were all weaved in pretty patterns and I was fascinated. My husband got rid of it so no other animals would make a home in it. I was laying in bed last night and I thought DUH! why didn't I take a picture to share. I wish I had. Well, now I know where all those little threads go when I toss them. How smart those little animals & birds are. I can picture them sitting and weaving with all the little threads. I am going to save more and toss more in the woods for them. Imagine trees filled with colorful nests. What fun.

Since I am off this week from work, I have been managing to get some stitching done and enjoying every moment of it.

This is Ellen Birdseye by Good Huswife. I have wanted to stitch this for a very long time and I got to thinking about it on Tuesday night. I decided to start it. It will be my what is left of vacation project. LOL I worked on it for most of the day yesterday and I just love it. I did stitch with the threads it called for but not the fabric. I had this very mottled piece from Silkweavers for a long time and decided to use it. The fabric is gorgeous and I wish I had more of it to stitch other reproductions on it. I don't know the name of it so will have to so some searching. It is beautiful though.
Today the sun is out and dare I say it might be in the 60's. Ahhh Spring.
Here are a couple of happy faces that brighten my day no matter the weather.

Isn't this cute, I just finished all the stitching for it. Just need to add the buttons, its Crescent's All in A moon. I switched the fabrics that it called for. It was a bright yellow and I thought the moon would look nicer on this blue fabric with the little sparklies.

I am so happy that this week we have off. I am getting lots of stitching done and the sun is shining. Yippee!! Easter was wonderful. I even managed to take a picture of the Easter bunny:

I did it I finished World's Above. Isn't it beautiful. I can't wait to take it to the framer. I really love this piece, I love everything I stitch but something about this design maybe the words just spoke to me. I knew I had to stitch it the moment I saw it. I stitched it on 32 ct Vintage Autumn Fields and used the overdyed threads it called for. It was designed by Midsummer Night Designs. All their designs are very pretty.
I have wanted to work on many of the newest primitive designs that I have been hoarding away but just somehow other things keep popping in front of me to work on first. Like this eagle design. I finally started it for DH. He is going to be so surprised (If I ever finish it). LOL I have never done a grid before and I am not really sure how to do one. I guess I could have googled it but I tried to grid it my own way. It seems to be working so far. There is not one spot on this design that is not covered with a stitch so this is going to be very interesting. I think this is the "busiest" design I have ever stitched. First off, I am using the fabric it came with, which is 18ct aida. I should have switched it for a linen but I was being practical, why buy a kit for so much money not to use the fabric. DUH!! I also figured since every square inch is covered what does it matter. Another BIG DUH! There are lots of color combinations in it. I thought about switching some colors for overdyes instead of combining the threads they gave me. Once again, being practical, I thought why should I do that. Sometimes my reasonable practical self annoys me something awful. Well wish me luck as I try to work on this for DH he deserves it I know.

I also started this series from Sea to Shining Sea. This is very easy to stitch so I thought this will be when I am sick of EAGLE I will pick this up and it will put me in a much better mood. Little House designs are pretty fun and quick to stitch. That being said I have a few of their series and I have to stop ordering them. LOL I just started to get a new one of their series and I have no idea what I will do with them. I thought about a afghan or quilt, something like that. They are sweet. Maybe a pillow with all the designs on it.

I just finished reading the best book I have read in many years. It is called the Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent. I got it from our library after friends told me about it. Its a story of a family in the time of the Salem witch trials and narrated by a 10-year-old girl, Sarah Carrier whose family becomes a target. The Author is a descendant of the family and that makes it even more interesting to me. I look forward to reading more of Kathleen Kent books, I thought this book was great.

I love this day, and I have always loved St. Patrick. In honor of St. Patrick's day I will be doing some wearing of the green definitely, I will make the traditional meal, corned beef and cabbage, we will have irish soda bread and I am making green frosted cupcakes for the children, okay for me too. So what are you doing to celebrate??

I had a wonderful time this weekend past, my daughter came over for a visit with the baby and I had so much fun with him. I took just a couple pics because I spent most of my time holding him. What a happy baby he is, he laughs so much. It is so sweet to hear him chuckling away, even if he laughs at me every time he sees my face. LOL

Spring break is coming soon and I am looking forward to it. Not just because of time off, but because I want to do some painting and decorating. I need to paint my kitchen and foyer. I have not decided what color yet, I am kicking around a couple ideas in my head but haven't decided on anything definite yet. We are in need of a new sofa for our living room upstairs so we have decided that we are going to buy a leather one. I know its going to be hard to keep the doggies off the sofa but at least it will be or should be easier to clean. Hope we don't regret it.
Well, I better head off to bed, the morning comes so quickly around here. I will post a updated pic of my World's Above later on in the day today.

27 years ago today our son Raymond was born. He is our only son, our youngest of 4 children, our baby. I can hardly believe he is already 27 years old. He is away at school, I didn't get to bake him a birthday cake like I usually do but I did send him him a package that included his favorite Chocolate chip cookies. He was more happy about that then any of his presents. That's my boy, LOL food first. LOL

I have been working on the Worlds Above piece but not getting it done as fast as I hoped. I am enjoying it though. It is so pretty. My husband has been complaining that I never stitch anything for him. He is right. Hmmm except I did stitch a lovely Santa Christmas stocking for him years ago. Guess that doesn't count. LOL We have different tastes in most things. He is always looking at charts of animals like deer, bears, oh and birds like eagles, and mountain scenery, not to mention Indians. He loves indians. I love a good cowboy/indian movie but I don't think I want to stitch any indians. After many years of his whining how I never stitch for him, I have decided to surprise him and stitch something for him. The reason it is a surprise is because if for some reason I cannot finish it, I don't want to disappoint him. LOL Maybe I am being too negative. Here it is:

not a very good picture but it is sort of pretty and I know my husband will love it. There is not one tiny spot that is not covered with a stitch, so I thought I could do a square 10 stitches by 10 stitches every chance I get and it shouldn't take me too many years to do it. Who knows maybe I will enjoy it.

isn't this pretty? Its a Christmas Gift to me, by Liberty Hill. The Christmas Memories Box! I just love it. Not only is it painted so pretty with a wintery scene it came filled with treasures. There is a silver mercury ornament, reminds me of the ones we had when we were children, 3 chenille candy canes, 2 metal snowflakes, a little needlebook in a little wool pocket, a small wood handpainted tag and its project ring, a little decorated tree shaped thread winder and a small house on a ribbon to be used as a scissors fob, all of it is resting in a bed of straw. It is just adorable. Merry Christmas to me.

Here is an updated picture of my World's Above, I know I said it before but I have to say it again, I LOVE THIS DESIGN, I can't wait till this evening to stitch on it. I didn't have a chance last night but I am planning a couple hours of stitch a$$ tonight. I am anxious to add some leaves to the tree.
Oh another weekend has passed and I already can't wait till the next one. I had such a good time. I went to visit my grandson and get lots of baby love from him.

I like it but I would have rather stayed home and stitched. LOL KWIM? It was nice getting out with DH though. We always have a nice time when we go out together.

I know what he is thinking. "I wish she would put that needle and camera down and get herself to bed." LOL My little Sparky, he is my little lovie boy, he follows me everywhere, and sleeps snuggled with me through the night.

Did you ever dream about crosstitching. I do all the time. I am obsessed. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and I am so tempted to get up and pick up that needle to get a few stitches in. I use to do this but I have fought the temptation since I have to get up so early every day and I would be exhausted. But its so hard.
Last year I bought this chart called Worlds Above by Midsummer Night Designs.

I have stitched lots of other things since but it keeps calling to me. I think it is the colors that I like, there are a few pretty colors in it that I have never stitched with before, and I couldn't stop thinking of them. Finally I fought temptation and started it the night before last.
Here is a picture of my work so far.

Isn't it pretty? It did call for 40ct but I am stitching it on 32 ct and it is pretty big. I can't wait to get home later to pick up my needle again.

Oh my is it Sunday already. Our week vacation is just about over. It went way too fast.
My husband was out of town this week and though I miss him, it was fun not having to cook so much and to be able to just do nothing if thats what I wanted. Hmmm I think I did that most of all. It was a much needed relaxed week. I didn't stitch as much as I thought I would but that's okay, I did stitch some and I also found myself incredibly hooked on a couple computer games. Zuma and Bejeweled Twist. At first I thought what a waste of some wonderful stitching time but then it was fun. LOL So isn't that what vacations should be? Fun! One day I took the ride to Hyde Park to the LNS there. Though she didn't have any new market stuff yet, I really went there to get a new pair of much needed magnifiers. I misplaced the others ones I had and I have been worried that one of my dogs had them for a snack. Nothing would surprise me more, but I found them last night. Figures! So now I have a spare. I do like the new ones though, they are tighter and much clearer. The owner and I (Hi, Pat) had a wonderful time chatting, about new things and market, and family, what fun. It was good to see her, I had not gone there in awhile and last time I was rushed by you know who. yes DH who else. I also bought some much needed threads, some crescents, some WDW and some GA's so I left the store broke with my tiny little bag but it was wonderful.

Another day I went to Walmart, now you might say what is so thrilling about that. I went there ALONE, it was heaven, noone rushing me or telling me come here come here look at this. I just walked around and looked at everything. I took my time. I saw things I never saw before. Amazing! They already have Easter items out including the incredible cadbury eggs( Cathey, I bought 2 and ate them thinking of you, how many so far?) and Dove eggs. I didn't buy them because well if I bought the bag of them I would have ate the bag of them.
I stitched and finished those things in the picture there this week. Yes, I do like red. LOL The box is topped with a design from a Weihenberg Mystery, it's the very first motif. I decided it looked much better on this box. I have retired from Mysteries. HEHE at least for the meanwhile. Maybe I should rephrase that, I am retiring from HONKING HUGE mysteries. I have my Vierlanden Mystery from last year that I adore but its so huge, I just would love to stitch on some smaller pieces, smaller counts. The other 2 little items are floss holders, one for me and one for a giftie. I used Wdw garnet on one and a threadworxx red on the other. I just love that threadworkxx red, so pretty and one stitch at a time it just is so pretty to look at. I need to get me some more of these threads. I have another threadxx thread that I am anxious to use too with pinks and greens in it.
I wonder if we will even have school tomorrow since they say a Noreaster is on its way. We shall see. Will this winter ever end?

Presidents' Day is celebrated in February to honor two of our greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. The holiday is celebrated in the United States on the third Monday in February.

People in America didn't want to belong to England so they fought a war to become a separate country. George Washington was an American general in the war. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12 in 1809. Things were different then. When Abe was a boy, he lived in a log cabin. A log cabin is a small house made out of logs cut from trees. His father cut down the trees and made the cabin. There were no electric lights in the cabin. Young Abe read books by firelight and drew with charcoal on a shovel. Abe's family was poor. Often he went barefoot because he didn't have any shoes.When Abraham Lincoln grew up, he studied hard and became a lawyer. Then he was elected to be a law-maker. In 1861, Abraham Lincoln became the 16th President of the United States.

I had fun this past Saturday working on these 2 blankets for 2 of my grandchildren. I never made one of these tied ones before and it was pretty easy. These blankies are so nice and warm. Hope the children like them as much as I do.

I would have had a lovely little angel to share that I stitched for a giftie, but I fell asleep while working on it and woke up to hear my dog Dingo choking and gagging. I jumped right up to help him, and I was just in time to find what he had indeed been choking on. MY ANGEL. He chewed it up and then swallowed and nearly choked to death on it. He is so naughty, forever stealing my threads and fabrics. I thought he would have outgrew this by now. He especially loves to lick the overdyed threads. YUCK! I have to keep him as far from my stitching as possible.

I had to share this picture of my valentine primitive stitching. This design is by Sampler Girl, Tanya Anderson. I made it into a little pillow and filled it with vanilla mulch. So I took a picture of it with the mulch for my blog. Oh I wish there was a way I could make you all smell how delicious this smells. I love how it came out. Tanya had charted a little key on it but I replaced it with a real key.
Isn't Valentine's Day wonderful. I love it, even though my HUSBAND forgot to remember me for Valentine's Day. I still love this holiday. When I told him it was Valentine's day, he said we don't need anything, we are too old for this. Can you imagine? I wanted to clunk him in the head especially since he is always telling me how we are still so young and never too old to have fun. Then he made a very special comment, "everyday is Valentines day for you around here". I guess that can be taken both a bad and a good way. LOL
Oh well, thats okay, Happy Valentine's Day to you dear husband, you are still my favorite valentine and I am still yours, I guess I don't need a card, or flowers, or candy to know that.
Anything special planned for Valentines Day? I am going to babysit for my little grandson. My daughter and her hubby have a wedding to go to today so I am going to watch their little baby so they can have some fun together. Anthony and I will have lots of fun together too I am sure. He is getting so big and laughing out loud now.

I am sorry little blog, I have been so neglectful of you this week. The week has flown by. It has been so cold and snowy and I just have not been able to thaw myself out. Last night I actually went to bed at 5:00 PM. I was so cold and I couldn't warm up. I must have just needed a really good night sleep because I am up today and I feel great, I can wrestle a bear (a very small one). I am anxious to get home from work today because my little grandson will be here waiting for me. YIPPEE. Can't wait to see him and hold him. I have not stitched at all this week and I am feeling the withdrawal, hope I can spend some time this weekend getting some major stitch-a$$! I have so many ideas and things I want to work on and make. Will post some pics of them over the weekend. I need to go early in the morning tomorrow to the LNS to buy some much needed threads to work on some things. Can't wait. I am going to try to go in with blinders on so I can't see anything but the threads. Trying hard to stitch from my stash. I am so weak though when it comes to new stash. LOL

I was a little girl then and I remember that summer very well, I even remember the riots of those times. Just reading these words gives me goosebumps still. How terrible those times were, I remember my mom being afraid that there would be riots where we lived in NYC, and she worried we would get caught up in them somehow. I know there is still a long road ahead but I like to think that we have come very far in these past years. I wish our newly elect president Obama the best of luck and May God Bless him and his family. I hope that the Reverend ML King is looking down and smiling at our great nation.

A Start and a Finish

Wow, my first finish for 2009, I am very excited. This is Gobble by Plum Street Samplers. I just love that little turkey there. I couldn't wait to share this picture with all of you. Almost can't wait for Thanksgiving again. LOL

I made my decision, thank you all for your input. It was very hard, but I finally decided that Peppermint Twists colors looked best on the Vintage country mocha. It's avery pretty fabric, and fun to stitch on too. I started it and didn't get very far with it but its a start.

A group of friends and I are starting Peppermint Twist as our 2009 SAL. I was tossing some floss to see if I could use something different besides what it calls for which is Wood Smoke. The first fabric is Belfast Vintage Country Mocha, and the second one is Bay leaf. OY I like them both. Decisions Decisions. Will have to think about it today because I am really anxious to start it. Its such a pretty chart. Maybe I need to look through my stash for something else. LOL
Here it is January and I am still finishing up Christmas gifts, I have some ornies to mail and a few other gifts that need to be done. This is one of them. A friend of mine Marie, who doesn't read my blog :)or even go near a computer...she loves blue and loves anything handmade so I thought I would make her these towels. They are so pretty and easy too.

Today is the Feast of the Epiphany. We always celebrated with our children with a little gift for them and a special dinner. But this year we didn't though. We have had a bit of a stomach virus making its rounds here. Tonight its my husbands turn and I think he is the last to get it, I just hope it doesn't start all over again. YUK!

Hey Happy New Year to everyone, Hope everyone had a wonderful time welcoming in 2009. I have been sick and spent most of New Years Eve in bed. BLECK! I think I had a 36 hour bug or something like that. I started feeling crummy the day before and I am still not feeling my best but much better then I did. Thank GOD!
I feel well enough to put some stitching in on my little turkey here, isn't he a cutie. I hope I can finish him soon. I am trying to get as much as I can done on him today before I start something new. I have to start something new, after all it is a new year. Hmmm what to start what to start.... have to think about it. Will think while I am stitching.

I had to share a lovely Christmas gift that I received from a dear sweet lady Sue, she doesn't have a blog but we have been online friends for quite a few years and she never fails to send me a lovely Christmas gift. She knows my love of Halloween and always makes me Halloween items. Aren't these great? I just love them. Thank you so much Sue.

Look at my beautiful gifties, the ornie on the top is from my dear friend Siobhan, I just love it so much, thank you thank you dear friend. We exchange a special ornament every year and I will post pictures of the onrnament I made for her as soon as it is received. Can't have any peeking!! :)
The next photo is a beautiful pinkeep from another dear friend Janice. Isn't it lovely. Janice also sent me 2 gorgeous knitted scarves. I took pictures of them and some other gifties I got from friends but the photos didn't come out very good so will have to take new pics. I will do that soon.
I can hardly believe its the Sunday after Christmas already. Christmas was wonderful, Santa was very good to all of us. Yesterday we went to a Christening and it was held during the 4:00 vigil mass and it was so nice. My friend Marianne's grandson was baptized. His parents live in Fort Bragg but they came all the way up here to baptize them in their hometown Church which was just so special. We sang Christmas carols and celebrated his wonderful Baptism. After there was a little gathering of friends and family at the Church. It was one of the nicest baptisms I have ever been to. There was something very special about. Little Aidan was so cute and precious all in white. He cried the entire time. He was not a happy boy I think the singing was annoying him. LOL
One thing good about working for the school is that when the children have off so do I. I am home for this entire week and I plan on enjoying it. Hope to get lots of stitching in and making plans for 2009 stitching. Hmmm something to really think hard about. I want to stitch some Christmas gifts all during the year and make at least one ornament a month. Now that doesn't sound too hard does it.

How wonderful Christmas Eve has arrived. I know everyone is busy getting prepared for the big day tomorrow. We are busy here too, we have been baking & cooking all afternoon, special cookies for Santa, all sorts of good food for our Christmas Eve feast, last minute wrapping and searching for a couple missing stockings. The children are all so very excited, (the adults too). I had to stop for a moment to first thank you all for reading my blog and for all the wonderful comments and notes I have received. Thank you all so very much. Tomorrow my daughter and her husband will be bringing our new grandbaby here to spend his first Christmas with us and I am so very happy about it. I can't wait to hold him. I will be sure and share plenty of pictures.

I am so excited. I had a great day today, we had a snow/ice day off of school. It was so good to stay home and just enjoy myself. My son in law was off also so I didn't have to watch the grandchildren either. I slept till 9 which is late for me and then got some much needed me time. I finished up two ornaments and then I got a bit daring. This design is by BlackBird designs "My Pink House", I had stitched it some time ago. the book that it was in had the instructions to finish it on a box. I had all the things I needed for awhile and I just couldn't seem to get the nerve up to attempt to put it all put together. I had never did anything like this before, but I did it, I did it, and I am so happy that I did. I decoupaged all the paper on it and that was a first for me and I really enjoyed it. It's not perfectly even and I followed the directions pretty close, changed a little to suit the box I got. I am very happy the way it came out, so I had to share it with all of you my friends.

I also decorated these 2 shirts for my granddaughter. She loves them. They were pretty easy to do and I was going to add a little more bling on them but they kind of looked cute just the way they are.
I need more days like today, we all do. What fun to get so much done. I also took out an old Christmas UFO and managed to put some stitches on that, hope to finish it in the next couple days so I will be sharing that soon too. The ornies I put together I can't share pics yet because the recipients are readers of my blog and I want them to be surprised. I will share pics as soon as they are received.
If all this creativity wasn't enough, the mailman brought me a wonderful new chart.
Isn't it wonderful, my wheels are spinning around thinking of all the wonderful gifts and ornies that can be made out of this one chart. Isn't it beautiful. Thank you, Bonnie from the Painted Giraffe, who sent it out to me so fast. I love it. I can't find the link to her store but as soon as I do I will post it.

Looks like we may have another day off tomorrow, I have a doctor's appointment though and not sure if I will be able to make it with the roads so bad. Will just have to entertain myself around here I guess, wonder what I can make next? Hmmm I will be having great dreams thinking about it that's for sure. Good night all!!

Deck the Halls...

I want to thank you all for your lovely notes and comments I received from so many of you about my brandnew Grandson, Anthony. What a little lambchop he is, I just love him so much. I have been trying to visit with my daughter and her little family as much as I can, to help her and to help myself to lots of that baby love. What fun. Aren't new babies just the greatest. He is now 10 days old and getting bigger already.
I received a most lovely gift from a dear friend, Janice. How sweet she was to do this, she crocheted a blanket for Baby Anthony and its so beautiful. She also knitted the warmest cutest hat for my Victoria. Both of them are gorgeous. Thank you so very much Janice. I will take pictures of the children in both and be sure to send them to you. Tori will be wearing hers to school tomorrow with her new coat. Wait till you see how cute she looks in it. I added 2 pics of the blanket so that everyone can see the lovely design clearer. Both pics do not do them justice. Both are just so beautiful. ((((Janice))))

I can hardly believe it's that time of year. We spent the evening decorating our tree with the grandchildren and having lots of fun. We went through loads of boxes and reminiscing about lots of ornaments and decorations, singing Christmas Carols all the while. They both love that song The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and we played it over and over.
Speaking of Christmas music I treated myself to a lovely CD by Lorena McKennitt called A Midsummers Night's Dream and it's just lovely. I went Christmas Shopping at Barnes & Noble yesterday and it was playing. I knew I just had to get it.

The music is just so pretty.
Here are a few pics of some more ornaments I stitched. They are wrapped and ready to go in the mail tomorrow to their new homes.

I have made 13 ornaments so far in these past weeks. Wow, I still need to make some for my grandbabies and for my children, and a few more for friends. I will be stitching right up till Christmas Day I think. LOL I took some time this evening and put a few threads into Gobble and I am just loving this design. That turkey is too cute. I am in no rush to finish it but its very enjoyable to work on.
