School Scavenger Hunt and Beading

My granddaughter had her kindergarten orientation yesterday and it was so nice. I am so excited about her starting school its going to be so much fun for her. They had a scavenger hunt, they gave the children a list of places they had to visit in the school, and a map, when they got there the person there would mark their paper and give them a school supply. I thought it was so cute. At the end of the scavenger hunt, all the children had their school supplies and they got to see all the important parts of the school. the lunch rooms, the bathrooms, the gym, the libary, the computer room etc etc. It was great seeing all those little ones looking around and visiting their school which they will be a part of for the next 6 years.
Outside of the school they had a small craft fair going in and though we were in a rush to make a doctors appointment, I took a few moments to check out a stand that had the most beautiful bracelets and necklaces. I purchased one for one of my daughters as a little gift and I found another that I really liked for me but it was very tiny. I mentioned it would be great as a ankle bracelet and the lady offered to make it into an ankle bracelet for me which I thought was so nice. I told her it was nice of her but I was in a rush to get to an appointment, she said oh it just takes a couple minutes. Okay so I waited, she started beading and I was so thrilled but then customers started coming over, and asking questions so a few times she had to stop. The clock was ticking and I really had to leave, I didn't say anything but was praying she could finish it. She almost had it done, she asked me to see if it was a good size, she picked it up and every bead fell off of it. They rolled all over the grass, we looked at each other in horror. After all that beautiful work. I couldn't wait any longer and I told her I was so sorry and she said it was not my fault. She also would have to search for all the beads all over the place even if she wanted to redo it because she didn't have enough of the beads in her box to make a new one. I was disappointed and I know she was too but I had to leave. Since then I have not been able to stop thinking about it. So I am anxious to try my hand at beading. I did some beading last year but after seeing her lovely work I got lots of new ideas. I am not sure if I can make anything as pretty as hers but I want to try. That is in between my crosstitching time. :-)

What fun the treasure hunt must have been! I wish they would do something similar here but I think there are just way too many children in the schools to do that. That will be a great memory for them for a long time to come. Sorry to hear about the beaded bracelet/anklet. I'd love to see one of your finishes.

That's wonderful! I bet the kiddies had a great time :o)

I'll tell you one thing, beading can be just as addicting as cross stitching. N'uff said ;o)
