Oh darn, vacation is over already and back to work today. That went entirely too fast.
Here is an updated pic of my "Ellen Birdseye". I was so hoping to have it done but I need one more thread, #611. LOL I must have a cazillion DMC threads but not a 611 among them. I am going to make a special trip to Joanns just to pick it up today. Doesn't that just drive you crazy when you are missing one thread. It drives my husband crazy that I have to drive 40 miles there to get it. LOL Of course all will not be lost, because I get to look at other goodies there, like fabric.
I tried taking pictures of my work in different light so I can really share the mottling of this fabric. It is so pretty.
For those who asked what fabric it is, it is DAYS GONE BY by Silkweavers. I just love how this one came out and wish I would have bought a few more pieces at the same time.
Thank you all so very much for all the lovely comments on my work and my grandchildren. I really appreciate them. You are all so kind. Grandchildren are the best. I have so much fun with them.
Something happened yesterday and I wish I had taken a picture I don't know why I didn't except that I just didn't think of it at the time. My husband and I were in our storage shed looking through things and we found a big nest. First thought was horror thinking some awful animal had made a nest in there so I was ready to run. But DH said there was nothing in it, whatever was had surely gone. The nest was made up of all sorts of stuff but what thrilled me the most was it was filled and weaved all over with colorful threads. They were all weaved in pretty patterns and I was fascinated. My husband got rid of it so no other animals would make a home in it. I was laying in bed last night and I thought DUH! why didn't I take a picture to share. I wish I had. Well, now I know where all those little threads go when I toss them. How smart those little animals & birds are. I can picture them sitting and weaving with all the little threads. I am going to save more and toss more in the woods for them. Imagine trees filled with colorful nests. What fun.
Have a good day everyone. xoxo

Your Ellen Birdseye is so pretty, Sharon! It's another design I really admire. The nest you found does sound pretty and I wonder what did make it.

Your Ellen is more lovely each time I see it.
I hear you about making the trek for one skein of floss. since Hancocks doesn't carry DMC any more I've trekked across town to Joanns many times.

Miss Ellen is lovely! I'd love to have about a yard of that fabric.

Love your nest story. You had an ort collection and didn't even know it.

I just love, love your Ellen's Birdseye and that fabric. I'm glad you mentioned what it is because I sure would love to have some of that on hand. The nest sounds intriguing. I wonder what actually was in it.

I love your Ellen Birdseye! And the nest must have been so pretty! Thanks for sharing, even if you didn't take pictures. :D I never remember to take pictures either.

Ellen Birdseye looks wonderful - I have that fabric, too, and it is scrumptious! Cool about the nest.

Your stitching is coming along so beautifully!! Oh I wish you would have gotten a picture of the nest, it sounds really neat! Of course, I probably would not have gotten the pic either and would have thought about it after it was to late too! LOL

ROFLOL, I can just see you legging it, getting as far away from that nest as possible!! It sounds very interesting--but I much prefer bird nests to any other sort of creature nests! LOL That is so neat about the orts, though. I try to throw mine outside, too; now I'm going to make a more concerted effort to do that.

Your Ellen is coming along so nicely! I just LOVE the fabric you're using for it. YGG!! You are too good, too, making that sacrifice of the 40 mile trip to get the thread. :D

Love the pics of Tori & Tyler. Tori is going to be a stunning woman with those eyes! Tyler is going to be a heartbreaker!

Your latest piece is gorgeous Sharon! I agree, the fabric color is to 'dye' for ;o)

What a funny story and I wish you had taken a picture. I remember when we had horses. The birds would take the tail hairs to put in their nest. Very inventive fellows they are ;o)

Hi Sharon, your Ellen is looking great. I think DGB is my new favorite linen. So vintage looking. I have found pieces of my thread in nests before, too. Isn't it a wonderful feeling to know that you've contributed to nature like that?

Your Ellen is looking fabulous... I love the Days Gone By linen too! I'm sorry you have to make the 40 mile trip for one skein of floss... I would make sure you made the trip well worth the gas money. LOL

Loved your story about the thread orts nest... I keep forgetting to toss my clippings out for the birds.

Your Ellen is looking so gorgeous, Sharon! Can't wait to see your finish, the fabric is just so pretty for it!

Love your nest story, I too wish you had your camera with you. I need to start carrying mine everywhere I go!

Ellen Birdseye looks fantastic. I love the look of the blue birds on the fabric you chose, it's a great combination.
And yes, I can relate to the story of the one thread that is missing. And I even can't drive somewhere that close so I always have to place an order. And when the online store doesn't have it in store I have to wait, and wait, and wait.
