We're having a Heat Wave

a tropical Heat Wave. Wow, Irving Berlin knew what he was talking about.
I don't remember it ever being so hot this early in June up here in my corner of the world. I heard the weatherman say this morning that we were having a heat wave and it made me remember my mom singing that song sometimes when she was doing her chores around the house. She was always singing while she worked and I guess thats why I know so many of them old tunes. But this song I didn't remember all the words so I looked them up. They are a hoot:

Were having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The temperatures rising,
It isnt surprising,
She certainly can can-can.

She started a heat wave
By letting her seat wave
In such a way that
The customers say that
She certainly can can-can.

Gee, her anatomy
Makes the mercury
Jump to ninety-three.

Were having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The way that she moves
That thermometer proves
That she certainly can can-can.

We opened our pool last week and just in time too. The children love it and so do the dogs. We bought Maya a small pool for her to play in every day when we don't go in the big one but she much prefers the big one, and who can blame her. She swims all over and doesn't want to get out. This is my grandson Tyler with our Maya. What fun they had.

I have been working a little on my penny rug pillow cover and I just love how its coming out. I hope I can finish it soon, I am anxious to use it.
I also have been working on JBW's French Rooster, I am in a few swaps that are due over the summer and I have some different finishing ideas that I want to try and this is one of them. I am stitching this over one on 25ct. Something I never did before and I am enjoying it. I am using just one thread, its one of the dmc variations and I am loving the look of it. I am not sure of the name of the color but it is #4130 and one of my favorites of the dmc variations, it would look lovely on any autumn design I think, so pretty.

I also purchased this week the new DMC Satin thread. I haven't tried it yet but I was thinking it would look great on a biscornu, maybe a monocromatic design? The colors are very pretty and bright. If you have tried it and have any suggestions how to use it please leave me a note. I would love to hear what everyone thinks of it.

Well, the temperatures are rising and I think I will go and take a nice dip in the pool. Hope you are all keeping cool and staying safe.

Sharon-Maya is queen of the pool! She looks so happy. Your Penny Rug is beautiful. You are so close to having it finished! I haven't seen that satin floss around here. I'll have check around for it. If it's difficult to work with you might could use some Thread Heaven. Satin isn't a new name for Rayon is it....just a thought...LOL
